I hope it goes well. And I'm sure Matt's doing his best about the situation.

After 3 years with that sort of capital laid out I'd be doing TVM calcs to see what I'm actually owed.

4700@ just a 4% return for 3 years = almost $5300. Having your cash locked up with no product for that long really does have a cost.

You send the guitar back to Matt, you get your money back. Matt files an insurance claim, he gets the guitar value from UPS.

After this, a new one gets ordered.

Keep in mind that insurance only covers list prices on guitars, and not customs. If the forms say "custom" on them you are entitled to a capped amount of (I believe) $500.

Question: Where is the guitar now?

I agree.... I deal with things like this from time to time and I think that you should send the guitar back to Matt's Music so that he can get it cleared up, get your cash back and when Matt gets the replacement, re-purchase the instrument. The downside is the wait time you have and will continue to endure as well as the customs fees that you had originally paid. I'm sure that the Jackson Custom shop will take care of it if you have a US Dealer calling them and bugging them about it all of the time!

I'm sorry that you have had to deal with this problem, I hope it gets handled for you!

I think you may have missed post #22 where he says that UPS had taken the first one, so he's left with nothing at this point. I agree with you shibs as I'd be going nuts right about now, and without being too nasty on the forum, let's just say there would be a daily reminder to those involved if this had been going on for 3-4 years. Just unreal....good luck to you lastaly

What a horrible situation to be in. 3+ years without the guitar you paid $4700 for? Thats just ludicrous. I cant believe that you would be left in limbo for YEARS without anything, thats just extremely rediculous. I think the fact that youre overseas has something to do with it... easier to "brush to the side".

Regardless, now you are not just owed a guitar, but are OWED MONEY! As was already said, you are entitled to the 3 years worth of interest on that $4700, because in reality, you just gave out a $4700 loan. I TRULY hope this gets resolved like it SHOULD have been years ago. Im really in awe over this, and I really cant see Jackson being much at fault here. If no guitar was being made after a few months, YOUR MONEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN REFUNDED THEN, not 3+ years later.

I agree that if the order was accepted, the fault lies with Jackson.
If it was me, I'd get a refund and call Guitar Asylem myself. If it's part of the same run, it has been sitting unsold for a couple years. I'm sure they would sell it a hell of a lot chaper than what you paid for the NAMM piece. I don't think this reflects well on the dealer either. Sitting on a 50% deposit is one thing. If they want the rest of the $, they have to deliver. But when they have 100% of the $, they have no real motivation to help you out. Sending a couple email inquires a year doesn't really sound like they are going to bat for you. Just my 2¢...

Why does Jackson do such a piss poor job of handling these kind of situations? Not to mention failure to return calls/e-mails from one of their larger dealers. Personally, I would just concentrate on getting my money back and wash my hands of them. This is exactly why I will not do a custom shop order with Jackson. There are too many possibilities in the process for them to fuck the whole thing up knowing they won't make good on it. I refuse to give them the opportunity.

                        I wish you luck.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. An email every 3-6 months will not get any problems solved. You need to be emailing and calling everyone you can get ahold of at Matt's, Jackson, Fender, Better Business Bureau, all of the guitar magazines and websites with the whole story at least once a day if not more often.

It sucks but you really have to be an asshole to get anything done.

indeed... on the other hand, bloodshed in such a case would be kinda hard to accomplish, except if the dissatisfied customer was in possession of intercontinental missiles. Or at least a plane ticket to the US.

I'm reading this thread again. I just can't believe it! This is just insane. 3 + years is crazy even if UPS was involved. I'm not too interested in placing anymore Custom Shop orders. I wasn't before with the price increases, but with this situation, I'm going elsewhere for a custom build. Sad, yes, but this sucks!
