It seems that Jackson has a detailed way of naming their guitars. They seem to follow the guidelines of the auto industry in that each letter or number represents something. Is there a reference code somewhere to the way that these guitars are named?

In most cases the first 2 letters represent the shape (Dk=Dinky, WR=Warrior, KV=KIng V, etc) and the next few letters and numbers represent which variation of that shape, like a DK2 is a Dinky 2 but a DK2M is a Dinky 2 with a Maple board. There are alot of exceptions but this is a general rule of thumb. Also, something with a 1 like a PC1 or an RR1 are usually made in America while models with higher numbers are usually made in Japan.My gear
87 Charvel Model 6
86 Charvel Model 4
93 Jackson RR EX
93 Jackson Kelly STD
88 Ibanez RG560
99 Schecter Diamond C-7
Peavey Bandit 112

Notable exceptions are the JS series and anything that ends in 10D. Anything beginning with JS is the bottom end of the Jackson line ans is made in India. The 10D is the next step up and I believe is also made in India or Indonesia. Not sure thoughMy gear

That would be fun, to make a big reference.
MG = Active pickups
SLS = Super lightweight soloist
T = tune-o-matic bridge
S = sustainer
M = maple fretboard
2H = two humbuckers
MAH = mahogany
The numbers are just variations of the shape; usually 1 and 2 are US made, 3 and up are Japanese.
Body shapes:
SL = Soloist (neck-through strat)
DK = Dinky (bolt-on strat)
WR = Warrior
KV = King V
RR = Randy Rhoads
KE = Kelly
PC = Phil Collen (strat-head strat)Last edited by Spivonious; 02-21-2008, 03:58 PM.Scott

Not to hijack the thread, but I take it you are a System Shock fan Lev?
And to make a valid contribution; yes, I always kind of liked Jackson's numbering schemes, though it begs the question: Whats the difference between 2 and 1 or 3 and 2 in a number? Also, two can mean Japanese made: DK2 for example.

Too much exceptions with the number rule, the KS2 (KellyStar) and TH2 (Stealth) were made in Japan and the new Phil Demmel sig is called PD1 but made in Japan too.
Then there was more odd stuff like the SS1 and OC1... made in Japan, I think.
