Yeah, someone figured out that tons of molten steel, heavy equipment, and insanely fast running roll mills don't mix with drugs or alchohol. So staying clean is mandatory.

I'm strange, I love being out in the shop, making a rooster tail of turnings 20 feet out from the lathe to scare the newbies every so often.

LOL. Yeah, I know all about it. Back in the bad old days in Arizona (Hey, RD!),
I worked with magnesium housings, and some goof trashed a nice half million dollar LeBlonde CNC by not bothering to clean up the shavings while roughing out a large blank. That stuff doesn't just burn, it burns HOT!. It took out the Fanuc controller, and the bed was trashed when he tried to put the fire out with a nearby water hose.
