  • Jackson KV1 Bridge?

Hi, i was just wondering what kind of bridge the KV1's from the pre 2000 era (when they had lsr tuners)

I am currently planning a custom build from scrath and i just was trying to work out if the guitars used by mustaine back then were Khaler fixed bridge (which i dont think they make anymore?) or mabye just a jackson fixed.

Also are LSR tuners still the best option or is thier a better tuner for keeping me...well...intune lol

    Thanks!!
    any help would be great
    Josh

i think lsr tuners are out of business now so you might have to either: get another type of tuner or try and get some second hand ones

the kv1 had the Kahler APM 3310 fixed bridge
Say, I smell bacon.Does anyone else smell bacon?
Yeah, I definitely smell a pork product of some type.

Kahler apm 3300 (brass rollers) or 3310 (steel rollers).

      LSR's are just fine.

Not positive here, but I'm pretty sure you can't get the 3300 or 3310 anymore. They have an equivalent that I know Randy (RD) put on his blood drip Kelly, don't remember the model number.
EDIT: you can still get the 3300 in chrome through Kahler, not black. This is the black one that RD got: http://www.wammiworld.com/u7330.html

hmm i got a feeling you can only get a fixed bridge in the chrome from the company, however i may hunt down one of these older ones.

This will sound stupid, but by randy do u meen somebody on the board or randy rhodes lol cause if its rhodes i will hunt down his kelly on the net, if its a guy on the forums then i will hunt him down aswell :P

Hmm currently totallying it up, its gonna be expensive but hopefully worth it, and i also hope my friend rembers how to rout properly lol

          thanks for quick reply guys

Don't know if there's any "downsides" to speak of. There's always gonna be a debate on what works best, it's all preference. I have a guitar with the fixed Kahler (KE-1), and it gives me no problems. None of the "tone sucking" Dave Mustaine spoke of. If you're used to playing a recessed floyd or hardtail, it will be different. It sits up like a TOM. The fine tuners are pretty handy. Just make sure you keep it clean. There's a lot of small parts in these bridges, which makes a lot of small spaces funk can get into (good sticky on the tech q and a section showing how to clean a Kahler).
Anyway, rambling now. See if you can find a guitar that has one and play it, that's your best bet. May be easier said than done. Only guitars I've seen with these bridges are a few Jacksons and some BC Rich models.

The 3310 was used on the old ke1 and kv1. Nice bridge with a good tone. I believe the 7330's are the same dimensions and the same design more or less.
I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

The 7330 has brass rollers, and there is not a 7XXX version with steel rollers. Also, the 7330 now says "Hybrid" on it (only matters if you are ultra-anal about it looking like a 33XX).

There is no routing involved with a Kahler fixed bridge as on the KV-1. It's a flat-mount, meaning no hole under it.

The 7330 is not perfectly flat and you do need a small route, but it's nothing major compared to a trem route. Here's a pic:

Hmmm. Just enough to ruin a stopbar/TOM conversion. Great. Stupid Kahler.
