  • DKMG Dinky, Need Advice!!

My friend is thinking about buying a DKMG Dinky so i've been helping him out doing some research, i've never actually played one so looking here for some advice.
Basically, the reviews i've read online all seem pretty positive- apart from the lfr, and i've always preferred guitars with through neck rather than bolt on's.
One thing i'm confused about is that a number of reviews state the guitar has PASSIVE EMG's- 81 and 85's. I was always under the impression these pickups where active- I have 81's in my EMG KH602 and they are definitely actives.
Any help on this would be very much appreciated, also any other suggestions of other guitars in the similar price range would be a big help.
    Thanks

Passive 81 & 85 ??? if they are EMG and passive most probably they are Hz.
And Hz are not such a great pickups !

Yeah you gotta watch out how people word their ads. There's no such thing as a passive 81 or 85, only the HZs, of which there is no "81/85 equivalent".

The HZs with the AfterBurner sound good to me. I've got them in one guitar and like the tone I get from them, especially when tuned to D. Not so much when tuned to E, though, but then again I'm not a fan of active EMGs either, yet everyone else raves about them.

Not the ones in the Jacksons, but still ... 81 equivalent.
