  • 24 fret ebony 'board???

    Hi!!!

i'm building my special dinky with the help of a friend of mine, since it will be a mahogany body I was looking for a bolt-on maple neck with ebony 'board but...

did jackson or charvel ever did ebony fretboard on bolt-on neck???the only one i did see were on neck tru soloists....

i'm asking the question 'cause I wanna know if I have a chance of finding it on the 'bay or is it better using my dr3 maple/rosewood neck for the project.

Yes, they did some with ebony boards. The 1990 USA Fusion and later the USA Dinky (which replaced the USA Fusion) had ebony boards, 24 frets, and were bolt-ons. The Fusion was 24 3/4" scale length, so they might not work on a body set up for 25 1/2" scale (though it depends on the bridge and how much intonation travel it has).

I'm not sure if the 1990-94 Professional Fusions and Dinkys had ebony boards, though.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

You asking if they made dinkies with maple fretboards?

? Fusion Pro's did for sure. See ESC's in the classifieds.

Oh, pro-confusion I guess...... none of the other Fusion Professionals had ebony, if that's the question....

Course N's forgotten more about Jacksons that I'll ever know, so I'll chalk this up to me totally not getting it and go away

The Stealth Pro (the real one from 1990 through about 92) used ebony with side pearl inlay dots on 22 frets.
                "Got a crazy feeling I don't understand,
                Gotta get away from here.

The current USA DK-1 is 24 fret, bolt-on maple neck with ebony board. Good luck finding one though.
                  Good deals with:

                          Tekky,
That pic you posted of the maple fretboard jackson, are you sure the guitar's intonation is right? Never seen those string clamps align in a straight line. Usually the third string and the 6th string will be aligned and none other right?

I, as well as other people here, have had Floyds with the saddles that were in a perfectly straight line that intonated correctly. And Todd's screen name is Tekky, he used to be a guitar tech, so I'm sure he knows what he's doing.

yeah, I know. tekky is great with tech stuff. he's personally helped me ward off my truss-rod fears. I was just curious. For all we know, that guitar might not even be his. No offense to tekky.
