its cool jd.my wife likes it!and she is my only groupy.and it seems to add a little sustain, not that it needed it! hey post that pic of it besides the charvette,i would like to know if other ps4 are that small, compared to a 24 /3/4 neck charvette?I know the old saying that the value of an opinion is generally inversely proportional to the strength with which it is held.

Okay, today I finally got a chance to get this thing going! Took the strings off, replaced the pickup rings because for some bizarre reason the ones on it were angled - like the ones on a Les Paul even though the JDR is flat? WTF is that all about? Anyway I put on the old ones from my RR3, used some linseed oil on the neck, replaced the strings, sprayed some switch cleaner into the selector switch to stop it crackling, lowered the action a little, and tuned it to Eb. I've also ordered some black metal control knobs to replace the cheapo plastic ones (which are on the wrong way round for some reason!).
Spent a while playing along to the "Ace of Spades" album and it was a blast. The pickups aren't the best - the neck and middle are pretty much useless, and the bridge lacks kick, but overall, for the money it sounds alright. More importantly, it plays brilliantly.
Might change the pickups at some point, depending on finances and whether I find a band I'm serious enough about playing with.

Question - what's the best way to adjust the action on this trem?
Some strings are high, some are low, it's odd. Like the saddle heights have been adjusted differently on different strings. Are some of them maybe loose?
I also tried screwing down the two pivot point allen screws, but nothing much seems to happen.
The action on this is a lot higher than I like - my RR3 is so low the strings almost touch the frets! (works perfectly though).

Thanks!

do you mean the vol and tone knob position is wrong or do they actually spin the wrong way? when i had my jdr i actually moved em around and disconnected the tone cause i never used the tone knob. i did this cause sometimes i move alot on stage and ended up slowly cutting my volume back on accident. so to eliminate that happening i put the volume way outta reach.

I'm gonna put a Bill Lawrence USA 500XL in the bridge, move the Duncan Jazz from my Epi SG for the neck, and a cheap, but good quality, Fender single coil for the middle IF:
Will any Fender type single coil fit in there? Like a Lace Sensor or a Duncan Lil '59?
And does it come with a cover on it (the stock Jackson pickup I mean)? So, if I bought a white Fender pickup, I could just replace the white cover with the black Jackson one (obviously NOT with a Lace Sensor, but you know what I mean)?Last edited by MartinBarre; 09-30-2008, 11:11 AM.
