Cobalt blue? Is it purple?

Yeah, I know that sounds stupid. But the KE3 I just got looks purple to me, and I can't find anything on Jackson's website closer to it than Cobalt Blue.

It's from 2001 I believe.

I'm planning on modifying the guitar using parts from Dave/Budman but I'm not really sure what will work best with it.

Yeah you could be right. The 2001 catalog(ue!) scan shows the KE3 as coming in DCB. Unfortunately there's no DCB in their colour chart for that year....
It's not really blue is it? Before I got it I was thinking of getting blue pickup rings for it but they simply wouldn't work with this colour.

I had an early 00's KV3 that was Deep Metallic Violet or something.

That may be what you have (can't see the pic - Angelfire logo)

Nah its not metallic, it's just a solid colour. Looks like a cross between blue and purple to me.

Looks like deep metallic blue to me. Or it could be deep candy blue (they're both metallics). The metallic on those is very light and hard to see, but if you look under bright light, you can see the metallic sparkles in the paint.

I believe cobalt blue is also a metallic.

That pic I posted was taken on my phone Toejam and it makes it seem like it's more metallica than it actually is. It's a solid colour there are no sparkles or anything even under strong light.

EDIT: my natural reaction is to write Metallica rather than metallic. Make of it what you will!
