  • Dxmg!

    Hi,

Can i ask for the boards thoughts & opinions on the Jackson DXMG..

Im thinking of making a purchase but need to spend wisely. I play stuff from Ratt to Black Label Society through a Zoom G2 effects pedal, could this guitar do a job for me?

Last thing i wanna do is buy it then have to swap out the pickups for some DiMarzio's, because i sound like Hatebreed "all" the time!!

I really like the look of the DXMG but should i wait & save up the extra cash & buy a DK2M?

    Many thanks

    Matty..

IMO, the DK2M plays better than the DXMG. I tried both when making a purchase last year for quite awhile in GC, and the DXMG just didn't feel as solid as the DK2M.. Just FYI, I also tried a DKMG at the same time. The toss up came down to the DK2M and DKMG, with the 2M winning out. I personnaly like the sound of the duncans in the 2M with the maple fretboard. But, to me, the DXMG just feels a little "cheaper" made.

    BTW - welcome!

Good guitar but I'm not a fan of the EMG-HZs in my DXMG. Difficult to get a good sound out it imho. Haven't played the DK2M to compare.

***I was lucky, in that the flamed one i have the previous owner put
in real EMG 89/81's in it, so it smokes pretty good!

Thanks for the input guys, im leaning towards the DK2M.. but one more question though - some reviewers have said that where the neck is bolted to the body its a little boxy or too bulky (if you know what i mean).. Has this caused any major problems for the DK2M players here?

          Cheers

yea it's a nice big heel. gets in the way playing the 20+ frets if you're not used to it.

I would definately look at the DK2M over the DXMG. It just a much more solid guitar and the Duncans in the DK2M are much better pickups. Also, around the same price range, the DKMG is worth a look.

The heal doesn't bother me a whole lot. It's definately there, and is somewhat in the way, But I'm use to it.
