  • MF special edition kelly

I was talking to the repair guy at the local guitar shop after I dropped off my dinky and he said that he had a metallic purple kelly that he bought from musicians friend in the early 90's and hasn't seen another since. According to him its got a maple neck, not sure if he meant fretboard as well, and an H-X-S layout. He cant find any info but as far as he knows it was made for one year. Could it be an anniversary model like the GC ones?
Any body Got one? Post pics!!!
    1995ish Charvel strat copy
    Blue Bengal DK2M HSS
a few others i'd rather not mention
Nigel Tufnel: (holding up a guitar) The sustain, listen to it.
Marty DiBergi: I don't hear anything.

Nigel Tufnel: Well you would though, if it were playing.

Never heard of one with that pickup config. I remember special MF models but that one I don't recall at all. Also never remember there being a maple boarded Kelly at all or else I would have bought that instead of the 1994 Kelly XLR I had to buy new which is something I rarely ever do.

Nick at Piney Hills has/had a yellow KE3 with maple board. Here's another on ebay.

They never had a maple boarded import Kelly back then. Heck I never saw a maple boarded black sharkfin board on an import until the DK2M came out.

Did they come like that new, or has someone just put a different neck on it?

It's a limited run that's like that. DK2M necks normally have a natural headstock with a black logo.

My kelly mutt is made with one of those MF special bodies. I believe they were made in India. I dont know what the original neck looked like. Mine is H-H with a recessed floyd. Ive got a ps-4 neck on it.
