It's not gay dude! Most guitar collectors have at least one autographed guitar, Where was the guitar signed? If I get a guitar signed, I will try to get the cavity cover signed in order to remove it if I decide to do anything with the guitar such as play it live or even change the strings etc... As for replacing the autograph, Lynch is easy to replace, he signs all of the time.
However, I have a bass signed by Phil Lynott and a Black and White signed by Kurt Cobain that I can't replace, a "V" signed by Michael Schenker as well as an old 1988 Jackson with George Lynch on the cavity cover to name a few! I would think that you could Sue the store for it's value, but unfortunatly Lynch's signature isn't worth that much when compared to other autographs, where it would matter most is the value you held for it! for instance if the signed guitar was your Dad's who left it to you when he passed away etc...

Not much help, I know... but it may be worth small claims court!

        Comments?

        * Hey, so I'm a KD fanboi, just thought I'd try to slip that one in there!

I have several guitars that are signed by Dan Lawrence or Mike Learn just below the graphic, does that make them gay?

Sue the store for its value? That would probably get laughed out of court. If George charged him for the autograph, then he could probably make a case of however much he paid for it.

Well, I don't want to be "gay" so this one gets the buffer treatment tonight :

Relics seem to be "in" these days so maybe I'll beat it up a bit as well

Rupe, I may just have to fly to PA and "relieve" you of that Jem.
My cousin has #107 in Shocking Pink.
                Fantastic players!

a graphic signed by the artist is hardly the same as an instrument autographed by some random guitarist at a signing session. But then, I wouldn't take a Monet to a signing session to have Paris Hilton put her tag on it.

I understand the desire some folks have to get an autograph as a memento of a meeting with someone they admire. I'm not an autograph collector so I've never done that myself, but couldn't that moment be just as easily be captured in an autograph book?

And I really can't see the appeal in paying more for a guitar that someone else had signed by someone famous. "So you had your Squier signed by Paul McCartney? That must've been so cool to meet him!" "Actually, no. I paid 10X the retail price of the Squier for it and I'm not even sure if that is his signature. It did come with a COA though...."
                    Hail yesterday

It's official. I've heard it all today.

What kinda douchenozzle would sue over something like that? Ask them for a box of strings and be on your way. GL's signature may have sentimental value, but it won't do squat for the value of the guitar. He's a whore anyway, and hasn't had squat to do with Charvel in over 20 years.

Oh, and Toejam -- fuck you!

Hey some of you guys are going overboard and I think I need to clear some things up I bought the guitar with the autograph on it, I did not care to much for it. All I was asking, basically, was it worth anything to do about it.

Hey I thought one of the forum rules was no foul language...like you chrisolson

                                CharvelChris, one word of advice.

If you plan on hanging around here long, grow some thick skin. Once the peanut gallery shows up the bullshit starts.

And don't back peddle. You bought a cool guitar with Lynch's autograph on it. Hell I think thats cool. If you didn't care, you wouldn't have asked for advice.
