Would it not be apealing to do a practical remake of this guitar? I know the big issue with that shape was the upper fret access due to the shape of the body, so instead of changing the whole shape, I propose a les paul style cutaway on the lower portion, also make it a shredder, I could deffinatly see that being a great guitar, with the 24 fret setup and possibly a floyd. I wish I could mock one up but I dont know how to do photoshop and whatnot. I'd think this idea could go towards metal guys and classic guys because of the roundness of the shape, and its so spacey looking. I dont know, maybe its a pointless post.

Actually I have no issues with the fret access on mine. My big issue is it's neck heavy (btw mines the Poplar one, not the metal one) There's a lot of things they need to change on it to make it a really good player. If it had the same thickness in the body as a normal Rhoads it would balance a lot better. the cable jack is in a real bad place (at least for me) and the top horn of the v is entirely too thin to put a jack in. They'd basically have to re-invent the thing to make it a decent guitar.
it's a great wall hanger though. In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

Upper fret access isn't as much of a problem as it looks, really. The biggest problem I found was the lack of versatility - one pickup and a fixed bridge was ok in 1980, but I can't find a practical use for that setup.
Add to that the overly long point and it's basically a stringed gimmick.
Make it an XTRR-type with either a Floyd and/or 2 hums and they'd have something.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

I love how that custom generator one looks, but I'd make the horn more like a les pauls, the smooth one, I dont know how exactly that would looke, but I think it may just offset it enough to calm down the body shape. Other than that, I'd like to add, Neckthru Body Construction, And Suggest, Hum Bridge, Angled Single Coil Neck. I think thats a versitile enough setup without being too cosmetically demeaning. That and just make it more like a normal Rhoads or any other jackson with a new body shape, Its about time Jackson unveiled a production series of this shape, its in so many magazines and collector books I've seen. Oh BTW, if the les paul style cutaway looks to gross, possible a cutaway similar to what ESP's done for Alexi Laiho, where it still has alot of the body around that pocket but tapers in just a bit, I think that looks pretty sweet as well, the Jackson rhoad's have that one both top and bottom, but you cant notice it as much because its semetrical and alot smaller.

I still need to ship my Roswell off to Slash to have the double Roswell Rhoads made. I might have to send him that pic as well. I also need to find the time and money to do so.In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

This post confuses me on a number of levels. Not least the thought Slash would ever use one of these abominations.

Not that Slash, JCF Slash
And I'm sorry, but if you need a cutout on a Rhoads, you do not deserve a Rhoads.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

When the Jackson catalog came out in '96 with the Roswell Rhoads on the cover, it blew my mind. Everything about it was totally unique- the body shape, headstock, LSR tuners and especially the crop circle inlays. It made me realize how creative the minds at Jackson were and I found it very inspiring at the time. I remember showing the photos of it to an older scholarly woman artist and she was blown away by the whole concept and design.

There's no doubt it's a work of Art, but a stringed Van Gogh isn't practical either.
There's definitely some creative minds at Jackson. I think they have to run through a few impractical designs first so they can whittle it down and refine it into something that balances functionality with style.
Look at those whackjob Pablo "Extreme" models. Some of those are just Extreme for Extreme's sake, while others actually have a practicality to them. As well, that creativity often leads to simple changes that seem like no-brainers afterwards, like the AnimeGirl Arch/Carved top Soloist from NAMM 08 where the rear of the lower horn was tapered without being scalloped - smooth flow along the body but increased upper-fret access, or those outlined Sharkfin inlays on my SLS.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
