• kahler question

alright folks, here it goes. i have an old model 4. an 86 i believe, and it has the kahler trem on it. right where the string ball is held in place is busted. a saddle i guess you could call it. it's the part right in front of the fine tuner. my question is, can i replace this little piece or do i need to replace a bigger part? the chunk-o-metal that is left moves around so i think maybe it can be replaced. and as for the part i need, whatever it is, does anyone here have it. if so reply here or look in my profile for my addy and shoot me an e-mail. i can try to get a pic of what's broken, but earlier attempts have failed. i hope someone can help me get this little ripper playable on all six strings again. thanks for any info.

Hi Garry,
I might be able to help you. Those six little string holders are held in to that unit with one long dowel pin that goes from one end to another. When you take it apart, you'll see what I mean. If you would rather, you could send it to me and I could fix it for you. I fixed mine so I have at least 1 repair of that kind under my belt so to speak . I even have an extra string holder for you if you would rather do it yourself. One question for you: When you remove all 6 of the fine tuners, do you see 3 philips head screws? Please email me if your interested. [email protected]

Re: kahler question

This just happened to mine - so I know exactly what you are talking about... unfortunately

The good news : you can order replacement parts from Kahler - www.kahlerinternational.com - although, just now as I tried to go to it, it seems to be a dead link... hmmmm anyway the part they will tell you you need is a fine tune assembly... costs about $65. - sounds like it's the whole thing (all six string holders and dowel pin)

The bad news : I ordered mine on Feb. 5th... and STILL have not received it... have gotten a few excuses about problems at the factory, blah blah blah...

Good thing my band has fallen by the wayside in the meantime... not being able to gig with my Model 6 was not fun...

Now this dead link thing has me worried... anybody hear anything about this company going belly-up? that would explain the delay.....

somewhere Mr. Rose sits and grins..... This SpeedLoader thing is looking better and better to me all the time...

good luck.....

Re: kahler question

I have been warned about Kahler parts availability, and I have 2 Hamer USA guitars with them: Kahler Pro`s. I also heard this is the best one and you can still get parts for these? Jack.

Doesn't Doc Dryer carry a selection of Kahler parts? I can't remember for sure, but I've got a hunch...

so far so good, but if something happens to them, I will surely talk to you Gentelmen with parts!! I have heard Jackson has the rights to make the 3310 Fixed Kahler, I wonder about the Pro Jack.

Just a helpful pic in case any of you are interested. As you can see in the pic, to replace a broken string holder from the Kahler, just tap out the dowel far enough to remove the holder, slide your replacement in(carefully lining up the holes!) and tap the rod back into place so it's flush on both ends.

Hi Brett, just to let you know, I've sent a replacement to Gary(Gtrplyr666) already but I'm sure someone else here will benefit from your findings.
Take care,

Re: kahler question

Man, I love seeing all these Kahler mechanics at work!

I *may* have the piece you are looking for. I will look tonight to make sure but I think I have one on a scrap Kahler I have.

Kahler used to sell a spare parts kit that had spare string retainers in them so if you can find an original Kahler dealer and ask to dig around in the junk drawer you might get lucky. I do this every new store I go into. If you plan on owning a Kahler'd guitar long trem...stock up on parts now before they disappear for good!
