DK2M hasn't got a large body, requiring more wood, and in turn, wood working. Makes sense, I suppose. Less cost in one department, allows for more expenses in another, with little price change.

Personally, I don't really get the thing with the binding either. It looks fucking badass, that's for sure, but I don't find it to be a necessity. To me it's more of a looks thing, and a really nice option to have, but I would get a guitar regardless of whether the binding is on it or not.

One thing I don't like about binding, is that abalone binding. Doesn't matter if it's just the neck, or the body as well. It's just too intrusive for my tastes. =\

What I don't understand is - if putting binding on costs more, how come the DK2M is still cheaper than an RR3, despite having the same electronics?
I wasn't talking of actual individual models. And also, I was talking about the classic pointy Jackson headstock. Take the RR5, RR3, KV5FR, KE3, and all those cheap JS models. I just don't like unbound Jacksons.

I'd also like to add that you're also able to order electronics in bulk, saving valuable money, however, the market for wood is always changing, so there's drops and peaks in prices for different woods. Where the wood comes from is also important, I'd imagine.

I'm afraid to even speculate how the economy affected the prices of wood, but I'd imagine it went up. However, I've no clue about the current prices of wood, so don't quote me there. Hopefully someone knowledgable aout these matters will chime in.

No binding on a Jackson looks cheap and ugly.
I can't say that I agree with that. I have a couple bolt on USA Jacksons in my collection and they look, play, and feel as a USA Jackson should even though they are unbound.
