Why are so many people concerned with "pre Fender"?
Why are so many people concerned with "pre Fender"?
I hear that a lot. On this forum and on EBAY.
Does it seriously make a difference? Or is it more for nostalgia?

That may be so. I am not a Fender player, but I have played a few in my time and I don't see anything wrong with them. They are what they are.
Perhaps it is ignorance. I was like that with Ibanez. I recently acquired a VBT700 and I love it. Totally changed my perspective on Ibanez.

That is a non issue with me.You hear that a lot by people thinking that makes them sound more knowledgable.Jacksons are still made by the people that made them back before Fender bought them.
I prefer the older ones just because they are the originals. The new ones are great guitars as well.
In general new guitars just don't do it for me unless I build them or have one built just for me.
There were people complaining before that there were issues with AMIC and how they were running Jackson into the ground. Seems like it's been better since Fender took over.

I find it better that Fender took over too, even though I hate strats (I have a tiny little craving for teles though)
Fender is one of the publics choices overall and litterally is one of the biggest brands probably biggest actually, Fender know's how to build there guitars as my friend has shown me how amazing his looks and sounds and I would love to have it in my collection ¬_¬
Fender buying Jackson in my opinion was a great move I just don't see why everybody moans about Pre-fender, buy what's on the market who gives a fuck if fender made it be happy!

USA selects are no longer built by the same people that build the Custom Shop guitars.
We lost tons of custom shop options because of FMIC policies.
I would rather lose strat heads and be able to get the old CS options back.
Only thing we gained that was good was production series Charvels with strat heads but it does not really matter to much since you cant even order those with "artist similar" options.

Those who find it necessary to belittle others know that size matters and that they are small.
A lot of CS options were dropped before the Fender deal IIRC. No 'birds, no roundhorns except the Y2K, no guarantee that when you ordered a Custom Shop it was being built by the best instead of the same guy that's only been there a couple of years. IIRC FMIC also brought back Mike Shannon?

Only the Y2KV was dropped because Dave Mustaine threw a fit. You could get everything else you wanted including a roundhorn V. I know because I got a lot of quotes on CS guitars that I wish I ordered back then.
Remember in 2003 Lee Garver had the last birds built because FMIC said no more after the buy out.
Mike Shannon is not the only person qualified to make Jackson guitars and he was only gone a few years.
FYI you could get a strat head back then if you placed your order through a European dealer.

I don't think they brought him back. I was under the impression he left Jackson to work for Fender, i think they just moved him into the jackson department. I may be totally off base on that, but if memory serves he was already with Fender when they picked Jackson up
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil
