  • JT500 and JT590 difference?

I'm not asking which is better, I know the 590 is better and is a drop in replacement for a 500. I'm looking around for one and want to make sure I don't mistakenly grab another JT500. What are the differences visually that I can look for? I don't know that much about them but I thought all 590's had the "made in germany by schaller" on them. This guy says it's a JT590 (not really looking to spend that much either..) but how do I know it's a 590, not a 500 (which I think it is)? http://cgi.ebay.com/Jackson-JT590-Tr...3286.m20.l1116

    Thanks

    You're correct, the trem pictured is a '500 and not a '590.

    1. Baseplate has no "made in Germany" stamp
    2. Sustain block is wrong, the OFr /Schaller blacks have the patent numbers and length stamped into them
    3. Collar set for the Arm is incorrect (could have been replaced, but nobody in their right mind would do so)
    4. coarser "teeth" on the fine tuning screws.

But the seller is BSing anyway, neither the 590 nor the 500 was ever made in Japan, nor is that trem anywhere near mint condition....

The 500 usually doesn't have a jackson logo. I thought they stopped using the schaller 590 in 94-95 so if that's from a 200 I'm not sure what that trem is.

So I'm correct in thinking all JT590's have the "made in germany by schaller" in the baseplate? That would make things really easy to identify. Apparently there isn't many of them for sale anywhere I've looked.

Yes, ALL JT-590's have the "Made in Germany" stamp on the base plate next to the trem collar.

@Rich, early JT-500's do have the Jackson logo on the base plate.
I've got two of them in my parts box right now.
