I remember back in the 80's vinnie even said that all of his rhoads (7 of them I think he said) where built for randy but he was given them after his death.
he's so full of shit.
"Vinnie's famous "V-shaped" Jackson guitar was actually a prototype for the late guitarist Randy Rhoads."
Holy No Shit Sherlock- It may ALSO shock you to know that Vass's famous Soloist is ACTUALLY based on a prototype of a 7/8th's redesign of a guitar shape created by a guy named Leo Fender.
Additionally, Vass's Les Paul Studio was originally created by a little known guitarist and inventor named.... "Les Paul". The now-famous silhouette existed for several decades in utter obscurity until Vass purchased his in 1992 & introduced it to a broader audience.
I thought he was? Then what band was it, and who was the Overkill Jackson link?
Or do I need a Crazy Pill?
Dave Linsk from local NJ band Zyris (I believe Zakk Wylde replaced him, or he replaced Zakk... can't remember). Dave's been in Overkill since around 2000.
It was said that Dave had the first Double Rhoads "King V" in the '80s, Robbin saw it at the factory for repair and wanted one.
I think Vic Vergat had the first pointy Jackson V made with the pointy V headstock... or was that KK Downing?
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
I seriously doubt Grover would be so stupid as to give away any copyright to anyone, especially if it was a Rhoads concept piece.
Since he and Randy were still hammering out the details of the final RR V shape, it's very doubtful they were even thinking of yet another shape, let alone the VVV (which, as has been proven, was first ordered - and therefore most-likely designed - by Overkill's Vic Vergat).
When the Rhoads was being made, Vinnie was still jerking off with Dan Hartman.
I think the pointy v with the pointed headstock was made for KK Downing, but I am not sure if he even took delivery of it. Wasn't that one J0001 or am I totally off base?
Scott
Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong.
Yep, J00001 from 1983 for KK. Found it in the old gallery.
Not sure if took he delivery either.
Vic Vergat had a few Vs like that, too, from what I remember.
Correct...Vic's are actually Charvel seing as Jackson didn't exist at the time they were built, but they were very similar to the KK one pictured here. They were not logo'd IIRC.
The legend in action. Boys, prepare to relive the legendary chops. Think about how your pathetic little Randy Rhoads compares to this icon.
The man can solo while pumping his fist in the air, licking the guitar, pounding a microphone against it... Basically, if Vinnie is near a guitar, a steady stream of atonal 64th (or is that... 666th) notes is coming out. HE DOES NOT EVEN NEED TO TOUCH THE STRINGS, HE IS *THAT GOOD.*
Jeeeezzz... That video/song/guitar technique was horrifying.
Whatever happened to good 'ol VV anyway? Does he still gig? Is he still alive? I'm actually curious.
