I got the JDR-94 from JDR-94 as a project to play with. Man, that thing has a great neck!! This body will be a "try stuff out" test for some ideas. I have a few thoughts on things to do and was wondering a few things.
I'm somewhat a jack of all trades (wood, metal, etc.) and I may plane it down and put a quilted maple top on it. What thickness is good for the cap? I was thinking 7/16-1/2". Or just strip the body and put a veneer (1/16") on it. That'd be easiest I guess. Any ideas?
If I don't do the maple cap (even if I do, the sc is gone), the middle pup (SC) is kinda in the way so I'm gonna probably remove it and cover it with something. I don't want to fill the hole in case I change my mind. I was thinking of an aluminum plate with something etched on it. Maybe even a LED behind it or something. Just to make sure, the aluminum plate shouldn't affect anything with the sound of the other pups, right? What if I use steel (pups are magnets after all)?
