I was using D'addario 11's in E for a long time, and now I'm in Eb using 11's.

It's all personal preference, though. I think Ernie Ball strings are the worst , though. They feel great the first day they're on and then after that they just feel like shit and lose their tone too quick...Just my opinion.

      GHS Boomers 10-46

I've used several different brands but none of them feel as good as the Boomers. They just feel right

98 percent of the time i'm using ernie ball hybrid slinkys. although the answer to this question is really based on opinion so take it as you will.

maybe i dont notice the loss of tone that other people claim cause i suck. LOL

            Interesting question.

When I first got my SL2, the thing was strung up with .013s with an unwound G
            and tuned to standard. Insane.

I played that set of strings for quite a while because not only could you bend
and whammy fearlessly there was an insane amount of heft behind low notes
            for riffing.

I found the music page of my old band which did some recordings at the time I
            had this set installed.

Here's a tune "stealth cow" with that crazy string set:
GarageBand for Mac has everything you need to learn, play, record, mix, and share incredible music, even if you’ve never played a note.

Pardon the over the top soling.

After that set got so grungy I couldn't play it anymore I found I couldn't find any
more string sets with that kind of gauge and an unwound G.

My other electrics were running Ernie Ball .009s and figured that .011 wasn't
that far away from the .013s so I went for that for a while.

The neck really didn't like it that much, I realized that the neck had been under
tension so long and the fact it was summer in Minnesota (high humidity city) made
me work to get it set-up, I got the feeling it never really liked that abrupt change
            in string tension.

After about a year of the .011s I went to Ernie Ball Slinky's, the .010s figuring it
was a nice compromise between the .011s and .009s. The guitar seemed to setup
happier at this and that's where it's remained until recently.

The guitar was verging on 12 years old and had never had any real maintenance
so I brought it to Dave Rusan (luthier for a lot of famous people you've heard of
and designer/builder of the white cloud guitars for Prince) and he did some work
on it: fret levelling/shaping/polishing, replaced the OEM Takeuchi Floyd posts
with real Floyd posts (much thicker metal and finer threads) and buffed out the
top, cleaned/oiled the fretboard and just snazzed it up again and it is fantastic
            now.

I suspect with the work done on the neck I could go to .009s but it would almost
be too fast a guitar to play at that point, with his work and the .010s installed
it feels like .008s on any other guitar.

On my Kelly JS30KE, I put on Elixir nanoweb strings, and they felt and sounded so good.
When I sold the JS30KE, and got a better Kelly guitar, it had a set of strings on it that were all messed up, so I bought some cheapo strings just to have something to put on it, and absolutely hate them. Going to go back to the Elixirs, myself.

I've been using SIT 10-46 and 10-52 for twenty years and have never found anything better. They stay in tune and lost longer than anything I've ever tried. YMMV, of course.

Been playing D'Addario 10's so long I can't play anything else. I wish I could be happy with 9's. Most guitars I try out at the store are 9's, and everything seems pretty good (I can't be 100% sure because the 9's feel like crap). Then, I get it home and switch it over to 10's...and the neck does the "Chubby Checker". ARGH!!

Havent used Elixrs on any of my electric guitars but i do use the nanoweb 80/20 bronze strings on my acoustic and they sound great , very bright sound , 3 months down the track they still sound fresh the day i put them on.

I use Ernie Ball Super Slinkies .009 - .042 on my Strat-scale stuff.

My Fusion HH and Explorer get the Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom set (.010 - .052).

                            i use yarn.

                            sometimes red yarn.

....sometimes yellow...but never blue. kills the tone.
