An old mentor of mone once told me that there was only a couple of companies that actually manufactured the strings for all the brands. That said, personally, I use GHS Custom Light Boomers 9 - 46
When I can't find them, Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys work really well.

I like the light top, heavy bottoms. Better crunch to my ears.

I use EB 9-42 on my alder and poplar body guitars, and EB 10-46 on mahogany guitars. I do sweat through the EB's quick, so I am going to try something else soon.

          89 Rhoads:
          Elixir nanoweb, 10-46 (medium). Then I replace the 46 with a 52.
We play in drop C and I like a fairly heavy string tension so have many springs in the Schaller.

          86 Soloist:
          Elixir nanoweb, 9-42 (light).
Kept in standard E and uses a Kahler.

          90 Rhoads (Deco Dream):
          Dunno - just got it!
