How do the Jackson Stars series compare to their Jackson USA counterparts? Are they basically the same?

With extremely rare exceptions, all Stars are made in Japan. They are on par with the original Jackson Pro guitars and usually have upscale features like ebony boards, mops, Floyds, Duncans, etc. I bought Newc's NASL which is like an SLS neck through Soloist. Those who are personally familiar with the 1990 neckthroughs and their USA counterparts from the same year will know there's a very slight yet detectable difference in the overall feel.
While I don't have a USA production model from the same period as my NASLs, I'd say they were as close to the 1990 Professionals as the 1990 Professionals were to the 1990 USAs - just enough difference to detect, but not as drastic as say a USA RR-1 vs a Custom Shop RR.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

My guess would be that the ones that come with the MOP logo and inlays are just as good as the early PROs. And will give a USA Jackson a run for there money. The versions with MOTO and painted logo are mostly likely in line with the current imports , SL3 SLS etc...Mike

I would not trade my Jackson Stars semi custom for any US RR1. Maybe a custom shop, but the couple US RR1's I have played didn't strike me as better then my Jackson Stars. Admittedly doing the semi custom i had all the RR1 things I liked built into the JS (1 11/16 nut etc) plus it cost a whole hell of a lost less and it has 24 frets (which is still really 3 more then i ever use lol) the MOP does look a little different then say my LTD, but it still beautiful. I would never talk anyone out of a real US RR, they are amazing guitars, but if you had a chance at a nice jackson stars RR I'd grab it, you won't be sorry (Unless it's in pieces)In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on NyquilComment

Ok, so I'm watching these two guitars on evilbay. One is a 10 year old Erie Dess Swirl USA king V and the other is a new Jackson stars Polka Dot King V. Which one would you go for?

I would guess the J2 (pre-2008) and TN02 (since 2008) series are similar to the high-end import series (5 or MG serie) we have in Europe and US, though I've heard that a RR-1100J (for sale circa 2004/2005 for the equivalent of 500€ in Japan) was better than a RR24 limited edition ...
Anyway, I'd rather go for a KV2 than for that polka KV that is a TN02.
If it was a KV-J1 or a KV-TN01 though, that'd be a different story. I haven't had the chance to really try any USA made Jackson but I can tell you that these high-end Stars are absolutely amazing! I personally prefer the feel of my Jackson Stars RR custom and semi-custom over that of the 1991 Grover Jackson RRs I've had (Dan Spitz sig and Custom Serie, built at the same time and in the same factory as the famous RR pro, so I would assume the quality is fairly similar).2007 Jackson Stars RR Custom
