  • Anyone know anything about Squiers?

I'm talking about the one on the right. I bought it around my 18th birthday, in 1995. It was second hand even then, I have no idea how old it might have been, but more than a couple of years at least. It had a poorly applied Fender decal on the headstock, but the guys in the shop said it was a Squier.
After I took this pic I swapped the neck with the Affinity on the left of the pic and it fitted nicely although the heel on the maple fretboard neck was a lot thicker (as was the neck as a whole actually).

The neck plate has no writing on it, just plain chrome.
The string trees don't have posts holding them up, just screws so when the strings are tightened they rise up to the top of the screw.
The humbucker doesn't look like it's F spaced although I always assumed it was stock.
The bridge has modern looking saddles and the tremolo arm has no white tip and is thicker than the one on the Affinity strat.
    It plays and sounds nice.

Anyone tell me how old this might be or any other info about it? It's not mine any more, since I sold it to a friend, but he never plays it and I can get it back off him for a silly low price if I really want to.
I posted asking on a Strat forum but had no joy, and the guys on the Duncan forum don't know either other than to suggest it's Korean.

I'm gonna guess it's an 80s-era MIJ squier model? Lots of people dig the Japanese Squiers, due to their quality build. you may wanna research, based off that assumption, and see where it takes you.
    I'm not Ron!

I would be inclined to say that it's a late-80s Korean model. That's not a bad thing, I had one and loved it. Does it have a quite slim neck?

Mid to late 80's Korean seems to be the best idea, although everyone says it should have a thin neck in that case, which it hasn't. The neck on it's about as thick as my SL3, it's really pretty thick!

I had one of those Korean ones. It seemed to me that the body was a bit smaller or thinner than a standard strat body. It was a decent guitar though. Wheres Fett when you need him.
