Occasionally, I like to mess around on the bass. I've wanted a Ric since I first saw Chris Squire, then McCartney, then Geddy Lee. Got a killer deal on this new 4003 Model. It has the push-pull tone pot cap mod, now built in by the factory. Pull it out to get the old 4001 bass tone, push it it and get a nice rounded full frequency tone with lots of bottom. I got several other basses, but a Ric is a Ric!
I started out with Midnight Blue, which I liked, but there were some flaws with the guitar (unusual for a Ric in my experience), so I returned it and got a Fireglow instead. I'm glad I did, since the finish is just brilliant
. It's also one of those finishes that is difficult to photograph. The action is low and that snarl and growl sound is awesome and typically a Rickenbacker. I'm sticking with the Ric strings. They seem to work fine. They are a odd gauge and if you go to another brand, like Rotosound, nut work would be required. All in all in just rips.![HeadBang](https://www.jcfonline.com/core/images/smilies/headbang.gif)
