  • Modded Floyd Rose Strat

Here's an update on the Fender USA Floyd Rose Classic I showed here a few weeks ago. Just back from the shop because I had it converted to a H-H from H-S-S. No routing required because it's a 1992 and has the swimming pool route under the pickguard. I am very happy with the mod because it got that middle single coil out of the way and I can't get used to the single coil sound anyway. Guitar is as clean as can be hoped for and is as fun to play as anything. I don't think there is a lot of love for these but I couldn't be more happy since discovering them.

First picture is what it looked like when I got it, including the wrong knobs.

Looks good, but I'd prefer a maple neck and black body.

Charvel should do something like that!!! Are you looking Fender/Charvel/Jackson employees? We need a Charvel that is a full size strat dual humbucker guitar with a pickguard except make it with a maple neck/fretboard!!! That would be so awesome!

Just kidding man. That guitar is pretty fuckin cool. I love classic strat looks, and yours looks damn fine. Good job on it!

Gotta love that universal route. Nice guitar and with all those pup options at least you won't get bored with it.

That's an awesome guitar - except i liked it HSS betta.

I guess that configuration is dead anymore, at least you didn't desecrate it by putting emg's in it

              Anyway, Grats!

nice, thats almost a perfect strat, but i just cant deal with the stock volume knob placement. i dont think its takes me more than 20 seconds of playing before i turned the vol all the way down.

I tried to adjust to the single coils but it wasn't happening. And in my 20 years of playing I don't think I've used a middle position pickup for more than15 seconds so I went for function over fashion. I like the feel of not having that middle pickup, they really do get in my way even if adjusted low.

I have a cream colored one as well but am leaving it alone just in case I change my mind and want the versatility.

I'm having a good time with this series, they are no better or worse than my Jackson's, Ibanez or Gibsons, just somethign different.

Love them both. There is something cool about a strat with a Floyd that you don't get from a Jackson/charvel with a floyd. Just looks a little different. That cream one is killer - wink wink.

I want one of those Iron Maiden Strats, missing one recently is what got me searching for these two. There are two Floyd ROse Classics on ebay right now but they are overpriced considering their condition in my opinion. If you can get a nice one for $1,000 or less then just go for it but not that much if it's kind of a beater.

I have the Japanese version, early '90s. Real Floyd and DiMarzio. Maple neck and 'board.
I will never part with this guitar.
8 strings? Because 6 is too easy?
