Pretty cool. Wish they would have gone 25.5" scale length. Some folks probably wish they had left off the pickguard. Also, seems a smidge pricey compared to a regular Explorer.

I personally love the shorter scale length. And yea, the pick guard should've been left off. But I wish it had neck binding, and the block inlays that are on the lp customs. THAT is what gibson should make.

I think that scale is too short for a 7-string. Won't that cause the the low B to sound loose and muddy? I think 25.5 to 27 is ideal for 7 strings

B is fine on gibson scale but it might be kind of interesting in an all mahogany axe, I have mine on a maple/alder guitar.

Oh. Well I have never had a 7 string before, so I didn't think of that. And yes, gibson's attraction to rosewood is foolish...

It's not ridiculous. Someone seems to have anger issues.

Yeah I don't get the rosewood hate. There is nothing unmetal about rosewood. Saying rosewood is unmetal is like saying any band that doesn't wear corpsepaint can't be metal.

I agree. I have a black explorer. And it has the black body and the back of the neck is black, but it has this dumb looking slightly red-ish tinted board. It looks so out of place. It would be better if it had binding.
I do not despise bound rosewood as much as unbound though.
And why the hell does Gibson do ebony on certain white colored models? The studio and explorer are the two I am currently thinking of, but I am sure there are many more.

Gibson's been using rosewood on Explorers since the 50s...Why is it bullshit that they used it on this one now?
