I love the idea of a LP with a Floyd. I just don't want it recessed...
I think that it has more to do with the neck angle that would be needed than an aesthetic reason. Seems to me that when GMW was retopping and floyding LPs, they had to be recessed for neck angle compatibility. Could be that a non recessed floyd would need a steeper angle than the 4 degree angle a standard LP has.

+1. I think they would have a real steep neck angle, most likely due to the arched top and shorter scale. I don't know if the guitar would look funny or have extreem issues from the steep neck angle. I'm sure Gibson thought of it as it would reduce routing operations. But, with Gibson, you never know what they did in R & D on this model.
