  • L.P.60's classic

Working on this one for a customer.
    2000 60's classic 2 Duncan custom pickups.
Did a set up and installed an RSguitarworks vintage pot upgrade kit.
Killer player and now it sounds like a Paul should.
Love the double creme and black pick up combo.
I would love to have one of these.
    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

That does look nice indeed. Was there a noticeable difference with the RS Guitarworks stuff? I've never had a guitar with their kit in it but have read about them previously.

        Like night and day.
The Gibson pots ranged from 480 ish down to 210.The neck pick up was muddy and had no definition. The bridge was shrill and thin.
Now it has huge fat tone no muddiness at all.Clear as a bell quiet too.
Tons of string definition now and harmonic overtones.
The pots are 536 bridge vol and 480 tone.
Neck is 534 vol and 479 tone.I used the RS vintage caps to take some of the edge off the highs.
The 60's classic have a thicker maple cap than most so they tend to be brighter.
This guitar has all that good Paul tone now.
The pots have a smoother taper and work from 0-10 not like the stock pots which drop off to 0 around 5.
Go check out the sound clips on their site when you have time.
I have been using their kits for a long time and have never had a customer not love them.

Awesome...I think I'll have to give their Tele kit a try in the Antigua I just got. I'm replacing the SC pickups with the CS Nocasters, so the RS vintage treatment may just put it over the top!

          Thanks for the info Cat!

I have a vintage kit in my tele mutt and it sounds great.
Its got a 70's Fender bridge pick up and a Gretsch lap steel pick up in the neck.
The kit really opened up this guitar too.
I have a modern kit in my 89 MIJ Squier strat and kept the original pick ups and it kicks ass too.

Yeah i will have it NYE - Bill put Duncan Alnico's in it, he didnt like it but i think the RS Kit made it very responsive and a little warmer, it doesn't bark like an explorer should and it may be too much guitar for the pups, but they really sound nice I think.

Anyway StrayCat, whaddaya say, can i like...have it??
