  • Question for you

Ok, this is sort of Jackson content, sort of not.

I am curious about P90's (or dream 180's which are humbucker size p90's kind of i guess.. according to others don't hold me to it)

what I want to know, besides using a Line 6 set up, could you get a David Gilmour style tone out of a Rhoads guitar if I put something like p90's in it? I like strats and all but I don't want one, not really. I really want to play my V's. and I think it would be cool to be able to get that sort of tone out of a non strat. I would guess pickups would make a big difference (oh yeah and if I were David Gilmour but can't have everything)

any suggestions? Say for an RR3 how could I achieve the Gilmour tone? What pickups could make it happen?

sorry i'm on a Pink Floyd kick right now, I'm sure I'll be back to the Cannibal Corpse stuff soon enough. That is if I don't keep getting side tracked with Hank Williams...

god the music in my head is confusing
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

I have a Dream 180 in my SLSMG. It sounds GREAT, but it's not a Gilmour tone. Warm with a little bit of spank to it. The BEST way to get the Gilmour tone in a humbucker is the EMG-H, which is a humbucker housed version of the SA that is in the Red Strat.

actually that is perfect, I can pull the 81 out of my Jackson Stars semi custom and put that in there, no fuss. Rock on, thank you
