I ran into Chris Impellitteri at NAMM a few years ago. He can shred! While I'm not particularly a fan of Dean guitars I'm pleased to see more shredders from the 80's get a sig guitar than about a Blink 182 or John Mayer sig

He's had his own band for years. Amazing player, really. I can't believe there's no Floyd in it, but whatever. I've always enjoyed his stuff, but I can't listen to it regularly. As a matter of fact, I can't listen to it at all - the cassette died years ago!
Not a RacerX guy - that was Gilbert & Bouillet.

sometimes i think being a soulless shredder might have SOME advantages over having a sense of melody and musicality....GEAR:
some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!
some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!
and finally....
i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

I like Chris' playing and writing. He doesn't get anywhere near the credit he deserves for the cool riffs he writes - everyone seems to focus on his soloing.
As for the guitar, I'm not surprised by the bridge choice. I've never seen any live pics of him with a Floyd'd guitar although I know he's recorded a bit with a Floyd and I think he had a guitar with a Floyd on one album cover. The same thing, sort of, with the pickup layout on the signature guitar. Chris has used a 'bucker some for recording but again, all of the live pics I've seen have been with 3 single coils but I know he's used a bridge HB in the studio.
The ugliest part, by far, is the Dean headstock. The graphic doesn't float my boat and it could have been better. But that headstock is fugly: it looks like something you'd see on a no-name, bottom-of-the-barrel import.Takeoffs are optional but landings are mandatory.

Impellitteri was relatively well known in the 80s, he had his own instructional video and everything. I liked his album "Stand in Line" back in the day, cool stuff.
The guitar looks like a Kramer body with an ESP neck though.
