it's a toss up between a strat and a tele. both are exceptional guitars and have their plusses, BUT if i could only have one, i think i'd pick the tele. it is amazingly versatile and plays effortlessly.
    GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

    and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

I'd like to ask why that list includes the LP, SG, Flying V but not the Explorer .

you forgot the most important one in the poll: A super strat or soloist body with 2 humbuckers.

I voted "other" because the Explorer was not one of the choices.

I don't want to come off as a dick or anything, but didn't you read the title? He wrote "traditional" guitar types!

actually - strats were around for 25 years or so before super-strats were popularized. And now super strats have been around for 30 or more years now. Makes you think, right?

now if I were a trying to be a dick, I would say that the strat style shouldnt have listed S-S-S hum config. but I am not a dick, so I am not saying that.

I voted other because I like the strat shape, only with neckthrough construction and dual humbuckers.

Traditional to the early 1980's. If you mean only 50's-70's guitars then I'd probably have to pick a strat. At least you can still drop a humbucker in one.

Early 80's are still the current 'modern' guitars, aren't they? There hasn't really been any revolutionary change since then (i mean in the mainstrem).

I don't know if I answered correctly, but I dig my semi-hollows...doesn't matter the actual shape...strat, tele, LP, dominion, etc.
