I must say, I am loving the Duncan Blackouts in the Imperial, they add a hell of a lot of gain to my Peavey Ultra, but still sound like Passive pickups, just with a boost

How do they compare to a Model series Charvel?

I haven't owned a Model series but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night...

I had a 475 deluxe exotic, actually traded it for the Baretta.

The 475 was a great guitar, but these are more than great IMHO they really kill the Charvie, and I LOVED that Charvie, but I won't even look back after these 2.

The thing I have found with Kramer is that the neck shape and the set up are really a make-or-break thing. The neck shape being much more important as you can tweak the setup.

But now that these are good to go setup wise and the neck shape is good, I can honestly say I think these are "long-term" guitars (I usually hold onto a guitar for about a year and then toss it )


These are the same quality essentially as a top of the line bolt on ESP of the same timeframe.

I'd LOVE to get my hand on an Archtop Stagemaster, they seem like the Be-all, end-all of Neckthrough production shredguitars.

Another thing, if there is any question of bias here.

about 3 months ago I thought I had "cast out the demons" and never wanted to look at a Kramer guitar again, I had bad experiences with setups and big fat necks, and tiny necks, and Explorers and shit, it was no good, so J/C was gonna be it for the rest of my badass guitar playing life. But then I played a bunch of GREAT Kramers at a buddy's house, and as they say the rest is history.

I will keep my DK2 though, I'm just gonna mod it up a bit, because it will nevr be sold.

and I will still drool over J/C stuff lol, don't you worry.

The ESP made Kramers are fine guitars you have two great ones thats for sure.

They made a bunch of cool stuff... parts from Canada, Japan, who knows where the hell else, but most of it good when set up correctly.

Those two sure do look nicey!

Was the ESP Horizon from that time the same guitar? They look very similar.

Pretty much, apparently Kramer sent the blueprints for the stagemaster to ESP, and then a couple months later the Horizon was released, and then about a year later, they finally got the Stagemaster out
