Saw a really cool one today and was looking online to track down something close but no luck so far.
Heres a run down, set neck really nice flame top,multi ply binding top and back,pearl trapazoid inlays,bound neck.
The headstock shape is close maybe more of a peak to the head but still the gibby shape.
No logo but a cool pearl inlay on the face of the headstock.
It has a burst on the top which is killer.
Post some pics of some obscure ones if you have them.
Not an Ibanez,Burny, Orville, Hondo,Cortez or Hohn I know that much from my research so far.
Its damn cool and pretty good price I may go back and get it tomorrow.

OK here are some pics.Its a really nice well made copy,chambered body looks like alder to me with a maple veneer front and back.
Gotoh pickups,bridge, tailpiece and tuners.Brass nut and saddles.
Have a shot of the inlay on the headstock and still don't know which Japanese manufacturer.
Nice pearl trapazoids and killer rosewood finger board.

I had one similar to that,but it was creme colored.It did have the same scroll on the headstock and the guy I bought it from told me it was a Ibanez,built on the side by their aspiring luthiers.It was a nice guitar,I hated to sell it.Maybe this helps....................

Thanks for the info Timmy that does help a lot.
Yanked out the electronics tonight and installed a switchcraft 3-way switch,input jack and an upgrade kit from another friend that runs Blue Collar Guitars in Richmond Ky.
The kit has CTS pots 508k/506k vols 480 tones and some caps he has made by one of the big name cap makers.Used all cloth covered wire and wired it like a vintage L.P.
Added some aged knobs as well.
The upgrade kit rocks and brings out the pick ups like a mofo.
Next it will get some aged Grovers, a bone nut and amber switch tip then I'll be done.
If you run into any of these old Jap copies buy them they are very nice guitars.

I'm thinking some kind of Ibanez or maybe Yamaha.

Toe I'm not sure at this point I have searched the net high and low.
Yamaha and Ibanez have used so many headstock shapes over the years and yes its very close.
No serial number anywhere on the guitar and no sign of a logo removed just that inlay.I have checked at least 100 different sites trying to figure out just what this one is I'm stumped.

Hohner, could be a Cort or another brand whose name escapes me at he time being, starts with an M. Mag ..something?

I have two Hohners L59's just like that in every respect save for the fact it has a name on the headstock (and they have gold hardware) The pickups and pots are telltale indicators of manufacturer.
some Hohner L59's used SKY pickups designed by Tom Anderson and were manufactured in Korea but since they've been swapped, you're only goin off the logo, body features and other detail.

Some were made in Japan if I recall, others-Korea.
My Hohners play and sound like old Ibanez from the mid 70's.

What matches as far as being telltale to me is the binding being multi layered, the flame top and the headstock shape.
These appear identical to mine.

knobbies, pickup selector - plastic seem the same too. (truss cover, pickup selector ring) Chambered body tho huh?

It does look like the Hohner L59 even down to the truss rod cover.
The pick ups and electronics were original to the guitar.
The pick ups were not marked but had the brass base plates like the Gotoh's and the two height adj screws like some other ones I had.No adj for the one lug tho'.
The chamber is open around the bridge and the bottom end of the body.
Most copies I 've had squealed real bad and had to fill them with foam to kill the squeal but this one sounds incredibly open and woody.

Ding! ding! we have a winner just found proof and yes it is a Hohner L59 made in 1979.
You guys rock.
Got an email from a guy who is a Hohner collector and he thinks its probably one made in Japan that made it out without a Hohner logo( he said that did happen from time to time)
The pick ups are the Sky pick ups and should read in the 9's which they do.
He offered me $550.00 +shipping right off the bat but I declined I love this guitar!
He then asked if I wanted to sell just the pick ups for $100.00 again I declined.
For some reason the ones that just have the inlay and no logo are semi collectable for what reason I haven't a clue.
I gave $200.00 for it thinking I may have paid too much but maybe not.Its a lot of guitar for that little bit of scratch.
