    1. The Rasmus name just plain sucks. When I read it, I think of a silly name my grandpa used to give to a person who was acting idiotic, "Rastas".

    2. Aside from the name itself, the font/logo design is bad. I think of the old cartoon Thundercats when I see it.

    3. I'll agree with everybody that it is lame how they clearly spelled out the parts origin for frets and so forth, but for construction they just say "Asia" instead of coming out and saying China.

    4. $1K street price for a made in China guitar is an absolute joke. Maybe in 50 years things will be different and China will have a good reputation for quality, fair treatment of workers, etc., but NOT NOW.

    5. As others have said, why not just buy a competing product that is less expensive and spend some bucks on a top rate fret leveling/Plek job and upgrade a few parts (like electronics) if needed. As a bonus, you could have a guitar with a name on the headstock that makes you proud.

    6. Whoever designed the Rasmus website should be fired. That left-right navigation is just plain irritating and stupid. A good example of being different just to be different and resulting in FAIL.

I read the entire thread on the Suhr forum. Quite interesting. Some support these guitars, but there are also some rather upset folks.
Excellent points. I agree with every one.

      shitty name
      shitty colors
      shitty headstock
shitty obfuscation about where they're made
shitty business plan to think people will pay $1000 for a chinese made no-name guitar

Charvel promods OWN these things, it's not even close.

plus it's funny how all the detractors on the Suhr forum are apparently dedicated human rights activists who care so much about the chinese/child labor, blah, blah, blah. reading some of those self-righteous idealistic posts make me want to puke. bunch of pollyannas.

the posts there about the outsourcing and hurting the US economy were accurate.

these guitars suck, but for most people who are turned off, it will be for the reasons I posted above.

Sorry to resurrect a "dead" or "dying" thread, but I thought I should put in my input.

I've never checked out Suhr, but I played one guitar, and it was magnificent.

I think for the price we'd be paying for a Rastamus, or whatever lame name they had, we should be getting something at LEAST made in Japan, or even Korea, where we know the guitars are high quality. Whenever I think of a guitar being made in China, I think of a beginner guitar you can pick up at Walmart, while buying juice and eggs. Or an Epiphone/Squire(?), but we're not paying a grand for those.

I'm mainly thinking the quality>outsourcing. I'd be weary buying a guitar from China, knowing 1. What products come from there (Hot Wheels, everything you buy in Dollarama, (which break in a month anyways )), 2. Us North Americans losing jobs, and 3. The sweat shop workers.

Carvin makes several nice electrics which can be purchased new for under 1K and they make them in the US, and Carvin has been around for a long time. So, why are they the only American company that seems to be able to do this? The Charvels are just over 1k and are American made.

Direct sales make a HUGE difference. No middleman means you don't get their inflated pricing.

Y'know, things would go down alot smoother if Suhr had at least had the courage to put it's name on the headstock

I've never played one, but from what I've read they were really nice guitars. Apparently, Suhr was spending too much time/money getting them up to their high level of quality, so they bowed out. I'm not sure how overall sales factored into the equation.

Guess the factory was to busy churning out MiC Jacksons

Such a shame this thread started about Rasmus guitars but in the end they became Jacksons

I'd say that it tells you a lot about MIC quality when the US shop had to disassemble, completely reassemble, QC, and set-up the guitars. At 1 point there was a 50% rejection rate on the product, Per John S.
Esp when these were supposed to be from the "best" Chinese factory in the country.

These have had very good reviews in the UK...especially the GG Rasmus when it came out. The MIC bit doesn't bother me but the pricing does: A Rasmus GG is £999 while a USA Modern in natural goes for £1600...only as crazy fool would go the Rasmus

A new guitar shouldn't need a plek. I've had two guitars plek'd, only because they were too difficult for a typical fret level to fix.
