  • Anyone here owns a BC Rich Ironbird?

How do they feel when playing them? Can you compare it to a Kelly for example? Are they confortable?

    I really dig this one:

And mahogany body + 24 5/8 ebony fretboard, it's quite similar to one of my Godin.

Well, it depends if you are talking usa necks or import. Thats lookin to be an import. I think they called it the art or artist series but they had a more squared neck heel going into the pocket. Not bad, not a USA tho IMO. I use my USA's all the time - great necks and typically consistent with a nice feel. Ironbirds are a good body style... similar to explorer or Kelly. That kind of thing is always subjective as some do not like the 'wing'

Pointiest guitar ever! I'd love to try one.

Nearly bought one, completely regret not doing so. B.C. Rich NJ Series Ironbird. Sounded alright with stock pickups, the shape was excellent (but I'm used to the Rhoads shape, you could also KINDA do it like a strat), and it looks bad ass. The neck was nice, the access was pretty good at the higher frets.

What kind of model is that picture of?

Thanks guys. The model above is the Ironbird Pro. It is an import.

I'm looking for a companion for my Kelly. I really like the "pointy" shape of this one. I would also like a Mockingbird but they don't seem to make it with a pointy headstock anymore.

My main concern is how they feel when you holding them. For example, you gotta get used to a Kelly shape but I got used to it and really like anchoring my forearm onto the large fin of its body.

The new Gunslinger in "neon green" is also pretty sick! BC Rich seems to offer some cool imports with good hardware (PUs, bridge).

I've always wanted a neck-thru USA, but that's about it.

I had one in black and green crackle. It was an import bolt on basswood body.
Very comfy player and a great guitar IMO.I like the shape too.
              Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Had one many years ago. It was the most neck heavy guitar ever......

Thanks BenoA for an import it was a nice guitar all over but the trem so I stuck a JT-6 on it for a while so a Floyd would drop right in no problem.
I had a MIJ NJ that had a blood drip graphic and that was nice too.

I think I'd rather have the Kellystar or Fastar shape personally. The upper hook on the Rich looks like it could take out a chunk of beergut.
