Terrible cellphone pictures but anyway...
EDIT: People have crucified me for the trussrod cover, but I dont give a damn, its my lovely first car that I still have and I will keep it on there
However lets get onto the real review:
Paint and overall finish: as far as I'm concerned, the color wasn't what I was expecting, but in terms of quality, Carvin has just single handedly destroyed every other guitar color I've ever seen. Even most USA jacksons I've played don't look this nice, the paint has a nice metal flake to it that is absolutely killer when the light hits it. I give it a 9/10 because I really wanted electric blue as the paint color, but the factory didn't have it =[
Hardware: All USA and German hardware on this one. Sperzel Locking Tuners, Original Floyd with Locking nut so this guitar no matter how hard I abuse it, it will NEVER go out of tune. The knobs are perfectly in place and they are damned sturdy and the 5 way switch is definetly durable. 10/10
Pickups: Carvin's own Gain Monsters. M22SD on the bridge position and M22N on the neck. My little Line 6 almost blew up because of how fat these pickups sounded, they dont need to be changed period. The M22SD's problem however is on the clean channel, I really like my cleans with a lot of delay and chorus (80's hair metal geek thing) however, its TOO fat so I have to take it off, or roll of the volume, even when I split the pickups with the 5 way switch but other than that, 9/10.
Neck: 24 fret maple neck with a flamed/birdseyed maple fretboard, need I say more? oh and stainless steel frets.
Overall:
I'm absolutely astonished by this guitar...reasons why are, because while its not perfect, it doesn't play like anything else I can remember playing. It has its own unique sense of individuality and while the setup that came from the factory isn't the best, theres a bit of an addicting sense to the neck that I just can't stop playing...not to mention, this things gonna blow my amplifier, it sounds so fat and so ridiculous that it feels like I'm playing an arena. The Floyd is rock solid..however tragedy did strike...there's a chip on the headstock. Luckily its a clean break so I just have to get some wood glue and just glue it back...I dont really wanna send it back for a re-build! XD But my favorite part about the guitar is that I love how professional it feels. Its a professional level guitar on all levels of its character. It doesn't feel like another CNC'd USA/Korean or Japanese guitar. In other words, she's INCREDIBLY solid, and it doesn't feel like a toy. I am truly happy with this guitar. 10/10
