    Terrible cellphone pictures but anyway...

EDIT: People have crucified me for the trussrod cover, but I dont give a damn, its my lovely first car that I still have and I will keep it on there

However lets get onto the real review:

Paint and overall finish: as far as I'm concerned, the color wasn't what I was expecting, but in terms of quality, Carvin has just single handedly destroyed every other guitar color I've ever seen. Even most USA jacksons I've played don't look this nice, the paint has a nice metal flake to it that is absolutely killer when the light hits it. I give it a 9/10 because I really wanted electric blue as the paint color, but the factory didn't have it =[

Hardware: All USA and German hardware on this one. Sperzel Locking Tuners, Original Floyd with Locking nut so this guitar no matter how hard I abuse it, it will NEVER go out of tune. The knobs are perfectly in place and they are damned sturdy and the 5 way switch is definetly durable. 10/10

Pickups: Carvin's own Gain Monsters. M22SD on the bridge position and M22N on the neck. My little Line 6 almost blew up because of how fat these pickups sounded, they dont need to be changed period. The M22SD's problem however is on the clean channel, I really like my cleans with a lot of delay and chorus (80's hair metal geek thing) however, its TOO fat so I have to take it off, or roll of the volume, even when I split the pickups with the 5 way switch but other than that, 9/10.

Neck: 24 fret maple neck with a flamed/birdseyed maple fretboard, need I say more? oh and stainless steel frets.

    Overall:
I'm absolutely astonished by this guitar...reasons why are, because while its not perfect, it doesn't play like anything else I can remember playing. It has its own unique sense of individuality and while the setup that came from the factory isn't the best, theres a bit of an addicting sense to the neck that I just can't stop playing...not to mention, this things gonna blow my amplifier, it sounds so fat and so ridiculous that it feels like I'm playing an arena. The Floyd is rock solid..however tragedy did strike...there's a chip on the headstock. Luckily its a clean break so I just have to get some wood glue and just glue it back...I dont really wanna send it back for a re-build! XD But my favorite part about the guitar is that I love how professional it feels. Its a professional level guitar on all levels of its character. It doesn't feel like another CNC'd USA/Korean or Japanese guitar. In other words, she's INCREDIBLY solid, and it doesn't feel like a toy. I am truly happy with this guitar. 10/10

Lol the guitar is dedicated to a car. A car which might be mundane, (everyone loves their first car anyways), but is otherwise still in your possession ? Like how much did the guys at carvin laugh at you when you asked for the rod cover . Just pulling your chain. Hey the paint is really cool and i love how they mask it off on the heel so the neck isn't painted blue. Question is, is the neck heavily cleared or is it almost unfinished. I would imagine that's hard to do because it would need to feel equal from end to another. Second question is, is that blue the same color from your nissan. It looks like an old Nissan color. A guy around here has a skyline in that sort of color and i work with a guy who had a really old crappy 93 maxima in that color. No offense if it's the same year, his , while being in good shape mechanically, was not take care of. Let's just say his trunk was held by straps hook onto the inside and everytime someone would get in a fight, there'd be a new dent on his car.

    anyways, congratulations man!

Its tung oil on maple actually, so it feels sort of like a satin finish, but you can feel the raw wood undernneath. The car is actually white lol, and I've taken care more of that car than anything else...including myself. :ROTF: and the neck is a bit thicker than most Jacksons, in D shape, its really between a mexican strat neck and Jackson's neck, its incredibly comfy. Not to mention I got the 14" radius on the guitar so it feels a bit flatter than most, but again, its really comfy.

            Sweet axe!
What body wood did you get?
Maybe try a 1meg pot to get that pup to really sing.
When they first designed those pups, all their bodies were Maple
with maple necks and Maple or Ebony fretboards.
I have an 84 V220 that kills with those pups. Its heavy as hell.
I cant count how many people have tried to buy it from me.
            Its not going anywhere.
            Models
The prudes may snub them, but I don't care.
            I dont need furniture.
If its tough, shreds, and screams, Its all good.
If it gets jacked, I'll get another one.
            And rock that sucker.

Mahogany body with neck-through maple neck. Congratulations on the V220 as well, did you get it back in 84?

The hog body is a lot warmer than Maple. Try a 1meg pot.

                I bought the V220 in 87.
I sold the 86 V220 on the right. The one on the left is the 84.
Also a pic of my Pre Pro 88 ST.
The ST was first offered as an option in 89.

Well it's really clean for it's age. It's not common for these cars. Usually the second or third owners buys it for cheap and neglects it all the way into a scrap yard :/

I picked it up for 2k with 89k on the clock, I'm its second owner. She was clean to start with, I'm gonna keep it that way until the end of her life.

Nothing wrong with that . I believe in having respect for my things. My cars. I keep them as clean as possible. I like not looking like asshole when people need a ride. Some of my friends have like 3 to 5 year old cars, but you couldn't tell. Everything you sit in there, you need to take 30 seconds to move out the old coke cans and mcdonalds brown bag off the passenger seat.

Very cool. Carvins rock! I've got an '02 SC90 that I love, had a DC400 and a DC120 12-string. I'll be ordering a DC727 eventually... though, just with one pickup, and probably a maple body and a mahogany neck just to be different.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Nice guitar. I don't like the pickups they offer and it's such a pain in the ass to change because of their bezels, but my God, they play. Congrats!! And don't let them mock you on the trussrod!!!

That's an easy fix... either get new bezels, or just drill a third hole between the two offset holes.
