  • DIY guitar. First project

Hey! This thread is about my own DIY guitar.
It happens to be a Tele with 24 fret neck and JAckson style headstock.
I got body wood - 1 piece swamp ash.
Also I've ordered some templates of plexiglas. body contour, cavities and headstock.
Now I'm wiating for neck wood, figerboard (I've got preslotted and multiradiused in Stewmac), trussrod,
    and all other stuff.
Here are some pictures of what I've already made and one - how It should look like after all.

you can rough it out with a file, like Sully does from about 2:20 on this video:

well it was almost like this guy on video did, but first of all I made some slits as shown on the image.

then I chopped off the spare wood, and then I smoothed it with knife, file and sanding paper.

exoticwoods.com has some nice stock. Ive found a ebay shop with some blanks for £40 / $70 ish so i may try that b4 i get some nice wood. The rib cage but looks doable. i am thinking of having the outline water jetted out as i only have a jigsaw at home and i think ill get a better cut.

Im going to watch sullys vid when i get home from work. the neck pocket scares me as well.

definitely you should get a powerfull hand router. 80% of work you can do only with router and a few router bits.

Yeah, there's a rather long series of videos where a 2004 Les Paul Studio was resurrected....
