  • Carvin Neck compared to a soloist neck

Anyone here have any experience with the Carvin necks? the necks on their ultra V model specifially. How do they compare with a soloist standard neck profile?

That really depends on the year of both the Carvin and the Jackson. In the late 80's all of Carvin's neck through models, including their Ultra V were extremely thin and Jackson, while not as thin, was more substantial. But when the 90's rolled in, many Carvin neck throughs got chunkier in comparision to the Jacksons. Today, Carvin continues to use a very comfortable yet chunkier neck than Jackson. Jackson has gotten chunkier as of late too, but they are quite different in feel.

I mean current era ones. But thanks for the quick history. Do carvins have rolled edges along the necks too?

I don't think so. I have had a few Carvins over the years and don't ever recall anything about rolled fret edges. However, they use an aging technique on their necks that keeps them from warping or shrinking, and their necks are really comfy.
