What the fuck is up with that sticker on the PG?

Not that it matters, out of the two LPs I've owned I removed the pickguard.

Im not a fan of cherry burst (One of mine was tobacco burst the other was Iced Tea), but that flametop looks really nice. In the first pic it almost
looks like it has a slight chevron to it.
    I like EL34s.

Looks sweet to me. Gibson's reputation has kinda put me off new LPs though...

I'm assuming that is cherry. If it isn't it's either the reddest iced tea I've ever seen or the lightest tobacco burst
        I like EL34s.

What's not to like? If that guitar were a chick, I would so be hittin' that!

Actually I just really suck taking pictures.

In real life, it's a dusty lemon drop, with not orange or red on the top.

I'm still trying to figure out how to take a good picture.

I have a couple with chevron flames. This one doesn't have them. It pretty much looks just like something from the late 50's. Very deep 3D top, that really moves as you wobble the guitar around. Like those 3D pictures that change as the viewing angle changes.

I brought one for my son last year Ice Tea color. What a waste of money should have got Ormsbys to build me a guitar for the money I spent, over rated guitar....

Don't sweat it DonP. I suck at taking guitar photos too but I've found that taking the photos outdoors with natural light (not direct sun) is an improvement ...even for me.

BTW, I'd hit that guitar too.

We only send the shitty Les Pauls down under

Sorry about your experience THOMO. This is now the most expensive guitar I own (still have 20+ days to return it to Sam Ass if I chicken out), but it is also the best guitar I own.

It's a CR8, which means Chambered R8 (fat neck). The neck isn't as fat as they used to make them which is good. It weighs about 7.5lbs. I've tried Chamber LP's before and didn't like them, but this thing is a cannon! very loud, but chimey as well. Past Chambered's I've tried were muddy. Sounds beautiful as an acoustic. Does great playing a bunch of AC/DC stuff.

I'm guessing the burstbuckers are unpotted because it will squeal if you get close to a high gain amp.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with it. I got this new for less than the price of a plain top. I have a Plaintop R0/G0 and love that, but flames are always nicer IMO.

Yes, Burstbuckers are unpotted... unless they're the BB V (aka BB Pro) models.

                          It's a BB 1&2 set.

Gibson has switched back and forth between potting.

At first they were all unpotted.

Then people complained (turned in guitars for warranty work because of squeals) so they started potting the guitar installed BB's, but not the over the counter ones. My 2004 R0 with BB1&2 are potted and doesn't squeal under high gain.

Now, it looks like something changed again in the past 6 years and they aren't potting again. Or, this is a "not common" model being chambered, so maybe it's an exception? Who knows.

Hmmm. Interesting. I figured with all the Gibson purists, they'd just keep them all unpotted like back in the day. I do like the Pros, but maybe I'll pick up some other BB models if I can find them potted.

Don, you can capture the colour of your guitar by setting your white balance on the camera. I assume the sheet where the guitar lies on is white but it doesn't look like it on the picture. If that's the case try manually to take the white balance from the sheet. You can also try presets, I think you have a tungsten light in your room so try tungsten setting or try something else until you get it right.
