  • 80's ESP M-1 info please.

    Working on a 1 hum,vintage trem ESP M-1 standard.
Psuedo strat head serial number 0080.
I have no idea how their serial numbers work so I can tell him the date of his guitar.
Strat body made of basswood.22 fret rosewood board.
    Very cool guitar IMO.
The paint work was done by another guy I work with sort of a tribal/skull thing.
I do know the M-1 was made 87-90 so I'm just guessing 87 by the low number.

    Sorry,

I have an Custom Shop (no s/n) M-1 neck thru I bought at NAMM in 1989(ESP headstock), and a very early Horizon with the Jackson headstock, but I'm not much help dating these.

I love these old neck thru models with the J/C headstocks, but not too familiar with bolt ons.

P.S. I thought you were in Louisville. Did you move or was I just not paying attention?

Apparently, '80s ESP serial numbers are useless for dating guitars. Also, ESP seems to have had the weird habit of affixing the "M1" designation to radically different guitars--everything from Stratocaster knockoffs to Soloist knockoffs. Hard to keep 'em all straight.
