  • A couple Taylor questions

I'm looking for a nice acoustic and love Taylors, but have a couple questions hopefully someone will be able to answer

I was a top end one - my friend has an 814CE which is the best acoustic I've ever played! Naturally I was looking at getting the same thing, but I thought of a few things.

First, what is the difference between the 700 series and the 800/900 series? Look to be the same woods and stuff, are all the differences just cosmetic like binding or are the 8/9 higher quality? I don't need all that stuff, especially in an acoustic.

Next, I think a short scale would rock! I see that they did "L9"s that were short scale, do they have anything else that is short?

As of now, if my assumptions are correct, I'm looking for a 7xxCE L9. Does this sound right with what I'm looking for?

The main difference between the 700 and 800/900 series is the top wood. The 700 series comes with either a engelmenn or westerm red cedar top, where the 800 & 900 series come with a sitka spruce top. The other differences are going to be the bindings and inlays and such.
I don't know the answer to your short scale question.

I have an 814CE that I'm very happy with. I used to own a 514CE that was a great guitar also.

I used to have an 814CE that I sold to raise some cash. Loved it. Since then I've also played 614CE's that were just as killer (maybe even more so tonally).

Well, you're in luck, just saw this yesterday. Chris is awesome to deal with, especially if you have a trade.

About 20 guitars down as of June 18th.

Yeah, I saw this one, been drooling over it since it was poted! Unfortunately I don't have the cash for about a month. I didn't know he did trades, though. I have a USA Dinky I'm trying to sell to help fund this. Thanks!
