The ESP FR-II's have mahogany bodies... never seen one with something else. And believe me I have seen QUITE a few ^^.

But let's not start world war III because of body wood issues...

By the way, when you compare price wise to Jackson being overpriced, you're comparing Japanese to American made products, of course there's going to be a steep price change.

Hey man, I've no interest in arguments over guitars.

I've owned two FR-IIs and they've both been Alder wings on a maple through neck, plus the site I linked to says they're Alder.
My friends own FR-IIs and they are also Alder. None of those are/were the version with EMGs though.
The latest EMG version can have Mahogany wings I believe (maybe theres a batch of these near you, I've only seen one up close) but when comparing to the SL2H, which is Alder wings on maple through neck with Seymours, you should probably compare like for like and so the FR-II with Alder wings on maple through neck and seymours is a closer comparison.
Although the FR-II will also have a maple cap to brighten the sound up.

The thing with ESP is they tend to export batches of certain specs to certain countries. I think a lot of the EMG guitars go to the US for instance. But Google FR-II alder and you'll get thousands of hits.

Anyway, good luck finding the guitar you want.

Yep, and we beat all of them. Ruuuuuuule Britannia!!

When it comes down to buying guitars like this, you're no beginner and know what you like on a guitar, know full-well what the differences are, so no-one's opinion should make any difference to your decision. It's like asking who gives the best handjob, the only way to find out is get your junk out and shoot. What does it for me might not do it for you (FWIW, a finger, oiled and gently inserted into the rectum.)
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

            @Rsmacker LOL, nationalist ?

I perfectly know what I want on the guitar. It's just that the ESP Horizon FR-II and the Jackson SL2H both have these features. That's why I ask people about the differences in both guitars, and what they liked or disliked about them. Because I don't want a particular sound, I just want a sound that I'm going to like, I'm not going through every guitar shop I can find just to try out every single guitar they have, until I find "THE perfect sound". I'm not one of these people who desperately seek a guitar just to play for example one particular song in their setlist, I want a guitar that gives several possibilities. So I ask which one gives more, the one with alder body or the one with mahogany and maple top, etc...Maybe this is a bit weird or unusual ^^.

But anyway, I'm going for the Jackson, it's just going to take a hell of a lot of time until I can buy it (I'm sort of short on cash, and I'll need to buy a RR24M first...)

Nationalist? Me? No fear, I'm British matey, I'm naturally superior to Johnny Foreigner any day of the week, nationalism doesn't enter into it!

What I was saying was that at the kind of level you are, ie. not a beginner who wants a guitar because *Insert name of current teen hero* has got one, the only real way you are going to find out is to lay your hands on these guitars and do the Pepsi Challenge. Never mind the quality madam, feel the length.

Two different makes of guitars can look the same, measure up on spec to be pretty similar, but one might just not be right for you. No explanation, no real reason, you might pick them up blindfolded and prefer the same one every time. It's what (to me, at any rate, and anyone who doesn't like it can kiss my beanbag) makes guitars special, mystical things. It's why a guitar is a "she" rather than an "it", and why if I was spending loadsamoney that I don't actually have going spare, on a guitar, I'd want to be 101% certain it was right for me. I take disappointment a lot worse when I've saved hard for something, I'm not the kind of person who can jsut shrug it off and sell it on, there WILL be wailing and gnashing of teeth if it's wrong.
Spend your money wisely, spend it once. (OK, I'm, a fucking miser)

Yeah you're totally right. Only shitty thing is, I live in damn France, and Jackson guitars are pretty hard to find in France... ESPs on the other hand are pretty common, that's why I was really into ESP from the very beginning. I'll just search all around until I find what I want ^^

I saw an article in USA Today that the French spend the third most on military, behind the US and China. UK is in forth place.

                      Watch out UK and Canada

Funny... How different we can be... When thinking of France, these are what comes to mind: wine, champagne, cognac, fine cuisine, foie gras, Paris...
