  • GMW neck thru SS Lynch sub

Hot off the bench from Lee’s shop, here’s my neck thru SS Lynch sub camo. I’ve always wanted a single hum soloist style guitar and a killer camo graphic. The Lynch sub camo is one of my favorite camos so I got the idea to use that graphic on a neck thru guitar. I’ve mentioned the idea to Lee a few times over the last couple years and he liked the concept since it was not the typical bolt-on strat with a H/S configuration. Once the IL Fin inlays were introduced, the discussions with Lee resurfaced about this project to use a maple fingerboard with ebony fin inlays. Again, Lee got pretty interested so he took it upon himself and made a couple different maple fingerboards with ebony IL fin inlays to see how they would turn out. As expected, they looked awesome.

So I worked out the details and specs and placed my order for a 24 fret neck through SS. It’s a 3 piece maple neck, alder body, non-recessed original floyd with a Duncan TB-5 pickup. I talked to Dan Lawrence about the graphic and he was able to resize the original Lynch sub camo to fit on the SS size body. I also gave Dan free reign to do what he wanted on the back of the guitar and up the neck. And as expected, Dan did a killer job on the graphic.

So here’s a few pics of my Lynch sub SS. It ships out today and I should have it for the holiday weekend!

    John

As I mentioned, Lee was fired up about this project so once I placed my order, Lee sent me an email and basically said the standard black G&G was a little too boring for this project so he ordered a custom orange G&G case! Pretty cool, huh!

Love that graphic. Looks killer, Johnny. Congrats.

Got a question, though... Looks like it might be kind of hard to get to those last couple of frets?

Holy shit JR! Always liked the Lynch Sub...but of course, I'm a Lynch fan.

I would have gone with 22 frets, added a neck pickup and done something different with the inlays since it's custom...like torpedoes or periscopes--something submarine like.

          And +1 to the neckthru!

          Gratz!!!! That is badass!!!!

Since I'm at work and can't see the pictures I'm just going to say naval camo rocks. I've always wanted a WW1 Dazzle camoflage paint job on a guitar. I just can't figure out if it would work out cool or fail. The link below has some examples...

Wow I didn't realize GMW built neck-thru's. Thats awesome. I can't wait to see your players review.

Thanks for the kudos! I love how it turned out and think Dan did a killer job on the graphic, especially the back and neck. I'll give a review once it arrives later this week. So we'll see how it plays and how the upper fret access is. Stay tuned.

That's super cool. I have to say that the Lynch Sub Camo is my all time favorite graphic. I'd love to have one just like the original. Can't wait to read your review once you get it. How about posting a video?
