He barely played his Jacksons...only for the 1/2 step down stuff from Diary (OTM and FHA being the only two songs regularly performed from that album). His Les Paul was still his #1 followed by the Sandoval.

I have mixed thoughts on this release. Dealers have been savvy to the white LPC/Randy connection and have been asking a premium for them for a while now ($5K+ not uncommon)...and your odds of getting a "good" one are slim, so I can see the purpose for these. I suppose it will come down to the price/quality of the build for me.

Custom Shop LP Custom is fucking sweet for like $3999 and you can dicker from there, you can get one in white... So, what the hell.

I mean, I know it's not "right" with the maple neck and all that but what the hell I'm not a skinny 5' white guy with blonde hair, either. :dunno:

As poor a job as Gibson did (IMHO) in recreating Alex Lifeson's '70s era ES-355, I question whether they'll really sweat the details on Randy's guitar either. Norlin-era guitars have a very distinct feel from today's Gibsons, and Gibson doesn't seem as interested in recreating that as they do on reissues of older guitars.

They'll "improve" it with a '59 neck contour and "upgrade" it with the latest in chambered resonance-enhancing technology.

I kind of like his black Les Paul better but I don't know that I've ever seen him play it live, just seen photos. The white is definitely famous.

I could probably afford a reissue of his guitar picks but that's about it.

                  Only about 25 years late...
He deserves it of course, but wtf. I guess for all those who have been requesting it for years it's great but for all the years they ignored it fuck gibson,
they should donate every cent to musonia for the fucking privilege of even being associated with Randy.

                        Weird,

So a Norlin, era pancake bodied, maple necked, white les paul?

Ok. Not my thing, but he deserves as many accolades as he can get.

Seams easier to just shell out $2500-$3000 for a 70's Les Paul custom on Ebay, Gbase, or Guitar Center. Isn't it basically an Aged white Les Paul Custom? But, in comparison to Fender, Gibson has more reasonably priced artist models - Yngwie "Duck" - $12K, EVH "Frankenfart" $25K (can I list this or do I need to pay a royalty?), Jeff Beck OXblood Les Paul $$???, Stevie Ray "Lenny" $12K, Jackson Randy Rhoads "Concorde" $12k. If I could sell beat to shit crap to people for insane prices I would too. Anyone want to buy some relic'd couches, complete with cheetos finger prints, dog hair and juice box drips - cheap $10K. I will even drive them to you for delivery!!!!
