  • NGD...is it another Charvel?

Nope...sorry. I'd have posted in the "Guitars by other manufacturers" section..but there's nobody there...and I had to share my good fortune. Sold a (pretty much) brand new Epi Sheraton II, and got this:

It's an American Special...good guitar for the money. Still trying to decide on keeping the white knobs on there, or putting the stock black ones back on.

Best part about that guitar is the bridge.

The rest of it is no slouch, but the vintage mount/narrow string spacing bridge is nice.

What do you mean "there's nobody there?" People aren't waiting on baited breath for you to post things like that Fender, bro. Sheesh.

Anyway - nice axe! I dig it - cool vibe to it.

You don't like the narrow string spacing? It's pretty much the same as a Floyd instead of the wider vintage spacing that puts the strings right at the edges of the neck.

Yeah, really. And who do you think moves all of his posts to the proper section?

I knew you'd move it...But you gotta admit...what's the point in posting in a forum that has no threads at all...no? And this is really the only guitar forum I'm on...at least consistently. So, sorry...at least I got a few replies while I could.

Anybody know how to keep a Fender bridge (vintage or deluxe) in tune after divebombing the thing. I have an American Deluxe also, and it's the same thing...stays in tune fairly well until you use the trem arm....I mean, what's the point of that thing if all it does is throw the guitar out of tune. I thought it was just my deluxe...but it's this thing too. Some people claim they can set these up to not go out of tune when wailing on the trem...I'll believe it when I see it.

Otherwise, it's a really nice guitar. The quality is very reminiscent of my Charvels. And the stock humbucker actually really sounds good.

Put a Floyd on it. That's kind of the reason they were invented.

i use the stock trem on my strats with decent return. what i do is take graphite and rub into the string slots in the nut. i also stretch the strings like crazy to make sure they aren't too loose....this includes stretching the strings everytime before i tune the guitar. i have also applied a small amount of 3-in-1 oil to the bridge saddles to keep them from binding the string.

do remember that the strat trem will always do better with slight wavers than full-on dive bombs or slayer whammy madness.
                      GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

                      and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

People seem to overlook the saddles on the vintage trem. The Floyd rose nut was a huge step in tuning stability, but so was fixing the bridge saddles. Dive bomb a Vintage trem and watch the saddles - they dangle and move. The spring kind of keeps them in place. But remember, those things have to go back to the EXACT spot or the tuning is shot. I have had good luck using a little epoxy under the height screws to keep the saddles at the correct position and also slot the saddles much like a nut. Otherwise, call Yngwie. He claims to be able to keep his in tune.

I'm not sure what you mean. There's plenty of posts in this part of the forum for other guitar manufacturers.

50% of the tuning problems on any guitar (locking nuts excluded) is the nut - improperly cut nuts will pinch the strings and not let the string come back to tune. This is exacerbated (Ron - spell check?) by the use of a tremolo bridge. Both of my vintage trem strats will bomb and pull and come back in tune (close enough for gov't work, anyways) - and all that's involved is making sure the nut is properly slotted and if necessary - lubed with some Graphital or Nut Sauce.

As long as you've got good strings, decent tuners and have set the bridge up correctly, the nut is the next thing to check.

Nah - Floyds match the vintage style strat trems for spacing - the import and "Special" Strat bridges are closer to Gibson TOM spacing - or Old-School Charvel narrow spacing.
