  • Vantage (samick?) bass info

A buddy of mine was given a cheap korean 5 string bass, a Vantage 755b and the thing has active electronics but he got no documentation with it. Does anybody have an inkling of where to find info on these? I couldn't find a manufacturers website or much info in my online searches. All the pots are mounted to a circuit board (the pickups are connected with phone/network style punchdown connectors!) and in the control cavity there are 3 switches, which I'm assuming control gain and or EQ functions.

    Thanks!

Yeah, exact same bass but pearl white finish. 3 of the pots have a center detent so I'm assumming it's Volume, mix, bass boost/cut, treble boost/cut. There's also the 3 internal switches that i'm super curious as to their functions.

I need to find the Henrik of Samick fans for the wiring diagrams hehe.

the internal dip switches are probably EQ ( parametric cut/boost ) points...meaning instead of +-12db at 80hz, it makes it 150-200hz...something that you could play with and easily tell if that is the case.

as far as getting a wiring diagram, or who made the pre for it, I'll look around for sure, and someone here will find something, can he take a crystalclear camera on a tripod pic of the control area so I can show a inside pic to people over on TB??

Yeah, I meant to grab pics when I was looking at it but forgot. I'll bug him for pics tomorrow. It's a pretty busy control cavity and it looks like it was designed to be quickly installed in a high volume environment.

the only reason I'm asking is "a pic is worth 1000 words"

and once some people see it it will be easier to identify.
