So how many heads need to roll over this one? The designer is the obvious target, but for fuck sake, how many people at Gibson thought that this was actually a good idea? I mean, who is their target market? This is a toy that a child might want...and for $5,000 that ain't gonna happen.
Just give up Gibson...no one wants this kind of shit. Leave innovation and electronics to the Line 6s and Fractals of the world.
Some good marketing there. And don't just mean the retarded write-up for the guitar, I mean the assholes who sold the Gibson decision-makers on that hunk of crap.
Hey everyone, Gibson owners like myself are starting to migrate to other brands (it's about time, huh?). This Firebird X toy is just an atrocious marketing nightmare. But you want to know what really hurt? The CEO smashed an SG at the presentation. Is that bad taste or what?
I was in my local guitar store at the weekend. I asked the Manager "You seen that new Gibson POS?"
"No" he said, "But I've taken an order for one..."
Turns out he's thinking of ordering five! That's how many of those hideous 'Dusk Tiger' things they shifted. The mind boggles...
I must point out that this is not in a big city somewhere exciting. I am in the far Southwest of England, about as far from civilisation as you can get.
