If I'm remembering my history right, the 88-90 HM strats were made in the USA and had the Kahler Floyds on them. The 91-92 HM's are kind of rare and were made by FugiGen in Japan(same place that was making the Ibanez RG's) and had an Original Floyd Rose and a DiMarzio Super3 in the bridge. I have a mint 1992, very nice guitar.

Kahler went belly up and Fender got pissed because they couldn't build guitars. So they Switched to floyds, and instead of having a part supplier go belly up again, they bought them out to prevent disruptions.

Bought this Japanese one from GC in very early 90's. It came with Kahler on it and always worked perfectly. In its later years, I swapped out the neck to trade rosewood for Warmouth maple. It served me well for many years as my only guitar.

I ask becAuse my first Strat had that Kahler and I haven't seen too many of those. Wondering if it might be the same model.-------------------------

Couldn't stand the straight neck either. So I put a 10-16 Warmoth neck on a MIM body and an OFR. Much better.
