the color is pretty cool, but this is really about the refin...not the "Nightswan" rout. That came as an afterthought when I got it disassembled. I thought, what the hell, let's try something. Then again, creme would look good on that color......decisions, decisions. Right now I'm trying to figure out if I should cut out the lower bout like the original 'swan. My dad's a tv repairman..he's got an awesome set of tools....oh, and I was thinking about doing the neck joint like the old GMW's. Don't really know what tool to use for that...dental pick or sledge hammer. All joking aside...I really want to do away with the v-trem. How hard would it be to drill two holes to install a Wilkinson, I mean, get it straight with everything? I'd do a Floyd, but then there's the whole "nut" issue.
I still keep practicing though.... Mostly because I hate my neighbors.-MakeAJazzNoiseHere

What wood is the guitar made out of? I have a pair of Nitro's made out of really soft basswood. These have a know issue of the trem bushings busting up the body because of the lack of wood.

I'm not sure...there isn't much wood between the existing post holes and the p/u cavity already. I may have to just use the original trem. I just hate the look of a chrome v-trem on a "hotrod" guitar.

cut the lower bout - especially if the body is getting a refin!!!! as far as the wilkinson, i think they make a template for it to get it straight....

ok, it's been so long I almost feel like I'm resurrecting...after routing for the middle pickup, this thing just sat for a long time. My original plans were to do a swirl (like a Jem). It didn't look too hard judging from the videos I had watched...but I couldn't help but think dipping it in water would be bad. Also, the whole idea of a chrome v-trem on that kind of finish would bug me. I changed my mind a thousand times on what to do. I decided (from the above suggestions) to go with creme/creme pickups and a cherry sunburst finish. Well, that lasted about two weeks then I decided to go with a blue/gree dragonburst because I have always loved the Carvins. Let me just say that I understand why that is a $300 option, lol. The body is not accepting the stain very well and I am having to put it on pretty thick. I have managed to get the top to blend pretty well and should have stopped there, leaving the sides and back natural, but I started on the back and sides. I will post pics soon for your ridicule and mockery. Oh, I picked up some Dragonfire Screamer pickups, price was too good and they "seem" to be well made, I guess we'll see how they sound.

I'm hoping it will look ok after I clear it.

Well, I couldn't look at it any longer. I sanded it back down. The wood would NOT take the stain right. I said screw it. Drilled the third hole for the 3-way, went ahead and cut out the lower bout and primered it white. Slapped a coat of sea foam-ish type paint on. Waiting for it to dry and then some more sanding. I think it will look ok.

When I started this, I wanted to make a guitar that anyone would be proud to own, lol. For minimal outlay of cash. It has evolved into a pain in my ass that I just want to complete. The wood has been sealed with some kind of damned nuclear kryptonite or something.

Here it is getting close to the clear coat stage.

The seafoam looks better than that burnt stained blue mess.

so you have the mid pickup and the lower horn cutout. why not install an OFR while you're at it?
