Got this one today and it kicks major ass.
81 LPC all original everything, truss rod cover had never been off the guitar.
I checked to see if it had a maple neck and yes it does.
Shaw pick ups too, still has the metal cover over the pots as well as the canister input jack.
    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Makes me think of John Sykes.

Looks pretty mint for a 1981 guitar.

Black LPC, one of the coolest guitars ever, and it sure does look nice for its age. The gold is cool, but chrome or nickel would look bad-ass too.

Its got its share of wear on the hardware and one spot of buckle rash but not bad.
Binding is still white so my guess it has seen the underside of a bed for a while.

I traded for it.His asking price was $2595.00 which was fair for an un molested all original. Its a cool feeling to be the first to turn a screw on a 30 year old guitar.
I did my homework and checked Ebay, L.P forum,The gear page and other sources and he was right in the ballpark.

                  Congrats and nice score indeed.

For the John Sykes vibe, you gotta rock chrome/nickel hardware. Gold is nice. Always ages to a nice patina.

                      Mine is better

What's yours weigh? My 77 Custom clocks in at 10lbs, 14oz. Heaviest of my 6 LP's.

Mine totally nails Thin Lizzy, GnR, etc. 100% stock.

Mine's been played a hell of a lot more. The neck finish is all worn off down to the smooth maple neck like an unfinished Jackson neck. Also the neck is as straight as an arrow. I don't think my truss rod has been touched either.

There's been some flack lately on the LP forums of these 3 piece necked LP's having twisted necks. Just some bad luck I think.
