  • Headstock decals

    Where do you get these?

I have a MIM Fender that's missing some of the decals.

Also curious about Charvel and Jackson decals.

although I heard they may not sell a lot of the decals they use to...

They don't have C/J decals anymore.

There's some fender ones on ebay. Not everything that's on the MIM headstock but some.

You want waterslide decals. That Best Decal stuff was vinyl. I guess that's OK, it's what I use for my Warmoths, but if you want the typical factory "cleared over" decal you want a waterslide decal.

I think Best-Decals still sells a lot of the stuff they used to. They just don't advertise them. Shoot them an email or call - they may still have them.

Yes, I'd really prefer the waterslide decals.

Their vinyl decals can be cleared over if you know what you are doing.

Yes, if you are spraying catalyzed poly and don't mind it being thick, I suppose you could.

However a Fender or most anything else with a vinyl decal would be instantly recognizable as a fake/hack job.

I think I just need the "Original Contour Body" and "Syncronized Trem" decals.

There is a waterslide decal shop in the UK that does awesome work and can recreate anything..even if they don't advertise it on their website...do some poking around google for Guitar Decals UK or something like that and drop them an email.

I have cleared over the vinyl best decals stuff and had no problems.Sinks right down with around six thin coats.
Wet sand and buff that's it.

                            Six thin coats of what?

Can't be lacquer. It would take a ton of lacquer to bury the vinyl decals I've seen.

                              Lacquer and poly both.
